Here's bad news for adventurers in the frozen lands, good news for fans of the Masters and Minions series "dedicated to bringing new life to a D&D monster with roots all the way back to the original, 1st Edition Monster Manual" (John Cooper, EN World). For better or worse, Horde Book 3: Rage of the Remorhaz is on its way!

These are the details:

Masters and Minions Horde Book 3: Rage of the Remorhaz
Author: Nathaniel Sims
Artist: Sang Lee
SKU: BEH3503
MSRP: $16.00
FORMAT: 8-1/2 x 11, 72 pages, perfectbound softcover

As a PDF, Rage of the Remorhaz will be Behemoth3's last release on the 30th anniversary of the original RPG; the print edition will be our first product for 2005. As always, owners of the PDF can apply its full price towards their purchase of the print book -- or, if you buy the printed edition first, you get the PDF for free.

We'll be releasing more previews as the time draws near; for now, check out Sang's blazing-hot cover!

I am misremembering these creatures? I thought they had those burning hot spores on their back that did something like 10d10 points of damage in 2nd ed (haven't had any chance to use 'em in 3rd ed.) That rider better be low in the saddle there! ;)

Thanks, everyone!

Hairy Minotaur's story hour is fine indeed, always fun and surprising. I wish he was my DM. Instead, I'm the DM for Brian, who wrote the minotaur book: your player's hate mail should go to him!

You're right that the remorhaz emits heat through its back, Joe (although it dropped to 10d6 in 3E and 8d6 in 3.5). But the rider is a wyrman, descended from fire giants - see Eyeball Kick #4.

Re: the flumph, Krug, the criteria for choosing monsters we started out with was that they had to be in both the 1E MM and the 3.5 SRD. We're going to make an exception for the tarrasque, so we might let the flumph in as well; but is it open content?

Looks good. Keep up the good work! I like the style in which these are written. They're very story-oriented and yet have all the rules in there, too.

The "standard" flumph is OGC thanks to Tome of Horrors by Necromancer Games. The green-yellow, advanced, spell-using flumph, however, is not.
