Gun Fu --- the new EN Minigame

Just finished reading Gun-Fu. Looks really good! I like the "just reduce actions to one sentence and that's what you can do" bit. I'd figure really good and cool ideas would also give panache points.

I found one error: On page 8 it says the Damage Save is DC 15 + damage and DC 10 + damage, which is correct?

How would you handle vehicles? Just subtract hardness from damage rating and make a damage save? Or something a little more complicated?

I think that actually tracking bullets fired is a little more record keeping the would be required in this genre. It does help limit some of the combat actions, though (such as strafe).

Overall it reads very well and looks like it would make for a good one-shot or short campaign.

If he's following the M&M Damage Save Rule pretty much as written, then 15 + Damage Value of the attack should be correct. But only Mr. B knows for sure.

Oh, crap.

No, it's supposed to be 10 + damage. It's lower than M&M because GF characters are much lower level than M&M characters and thus will have much lower Damage saves. To get the level of lethality I wanted for the game, I scaled down the damage save dc. Scaling that to tailor your game offers a very simple means of changing the feel of your game, without requiring any other changes.

Man, I went back and forth on keeping track of how many bullets you have. I agree it's a little out-of-genre, but it seemed important for distinguishing some of the firearms actions. The truth is that in the movies sometimes the number of bullets matters and sometimes it doesn't. I wouldn't bother keeping track of semi-auto or non-auto weapons, myself. It just matters for auto weapons when using one of the special actions -- in order to determine damage.

And if you're using those kinds of weapons PROPERLY, you're expending the entire clip in the first round. I mean, come on.

10+ it is then, thanks!

Maybe it would be best to just keep track of bullets against the named bag guys and not worry about them agains mooks.

I thing playing this game in genre would be quite a shift in thinking for my tactically minded group! Once we got in the right mindset, though, it would be a blast.

Little horn-toot:

Gun-Fu: Balletic Ballistics debuts on RPGNow's Top Sellers lists at

NUMBER ONE

...and that would most definitely be "with a bullet".

:D

Thanks, folks, for showing support for this product. I really hope that EN MiniGames becomes an industry standard for d20 expansion and imagination.

I wrote a review of GunFu last night, but there wasn't a page for it yet. I requested one, and one is there now, but unfortuantely the review is on my work computer, so I won't be able to post it until tonight. If anyone is interested I'll link to it here when it goes up.

Dammit Barsoomcore, you've done it again.

You go off, all half-c*cked, and write another thing that piques my interest and now I'm all like "ooohhh I gotta go get that" and what makes it worse is that I freakin' *know* that it will be good, like Hot Pursuit, and so I'm all worthless for work for the rest of the day.

Thanks a lot buddy :).

I look forward to picking it up soon.

So when we gonna see some 70's cop minigame action? :)
