Adventure:-- LPNN (Manzanita Judging)

Ogrin grins at the rat ahead of him, manuevering into flanking again if necessary. As soon as he sees a good opportunity, he slashes at it. "Feel the sting of this 'runt', rat-face!"

OOC: +2 to hit due to flanking, any hit deals +1D6 sneak attack damage as well.

Round 2

Finishing up round1

I11: Juliana sticks to her position, gets in a defensive stance, a readies a 5’+trip attack.
I6: Almayce moves away from bats.
I1: Vargo&Wolf move out of bat mess. They now share the same initiative (1). I usually just have animal companions share their master’s init, for simplicity. I forgot this time. This seems like a good opportunity to get them on the same page.

ROUND 2

LongTooth 20
Hallidor 20
BatS 19
Slinker 17
Ogrin 16 (delayed until Slinker acted last round so he could double move and flank)
Stinker 14
Raz 13
Zaeryl 13
Juliana 11
Almayce 6
Vargo & Wolf 1

I20: Hallidor, not sure what to do, makes a wisdom check. He sees his more experienced ally standing next to him calmly, waiting for something. He sees LongTooth doing the same thing. Then he feels and hears the rustling of the bat swarm on his back. He rolls a “13”, solid. He doesn’t simply rush in and attack. He takes a 5’ step towards LongTooth, away from the bats, and “readies” an attack. He’s not experienced enough (by any means) at fighting reach weapons to do Juliana’s 5’ step-n-attack routine. This action however unknowingly triggers LongTooth’s attack action. He swings at Hallidor, “17”, hitting him easily, and doing 11 points of damage! Maximum! Crazy. (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=108253). LongTooth is freakin’ on fire. Hallidor drops to the ground; he seems to be both unconscious and slowly bleeding. To death.

LongTooth snarls in Juliana’s direction: “That’s right little girl… let the men fight it out… I’m sure you are needed in a kitchen somewhere…”

Note to self: LongTooth’s new initiative count is 20.

I19: Luckily, the bat swarm doesn’t read internet bulletin boards, and is unaware of the tasty potentialities (or lack thereof) of Zaeryl’s blood. Swarms are also shapeable, easily spreading out and moving into squares occupied by Zaeryl and Juliana. Juliana takes an AOO with her flail, rolling an “14” and missing due to the defensive stance (-4 to hit, +2 ac). Note that this applies also to AOO’s. Z and J take 4 and 6 points of damage, respectively. All bat-bitten PC’s bleed 1 additional point of damage; Zaeryl, Vargo, Almayce, Wolf.

I17: Slinker, being flanked and not liking it a bit, takes a 5’ step back and, seeing Ogrin, mutters one word: “runt.” Slinker than stops using his buckler, opens his clawed hand wide, and lunges at Ogrin – attempting to grapple. Ogrin, quite horrified, takes an AOO and “1” misses entirely. Slinker than makes a melee touch attack: “12” making it. Opposed grapple check: Ogrin rolls great – 16! But Slinker rolls a “20”. http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=108259. Good lord. Slinker then decides to bite Ogrin’s head off. Does 3 points of damage to Ogrin. Ogrin rolls a “10” and the tough little halfling is not infected with “the curse”.

I16: I’ll go out on a limb here and assume Ogrin wants to escape the grapple of Slinker. Ogrin’s escape artist ain’t all that, so he just does it the old fashioned way: strength. O/Sl rolls “2” and “16” and Ogrin stays right where he is. He’s got a move action to do something, if desired.

I14 Stinker, nicely in position, decides to poke Raz with his rapier as well as bite his head off. But rolls an 11/7 and misses both times.

I13: Raz. I’m sure last round’s dominating 1/1 rolls can’t be matched, so he attacks Stinker twice: 14/18. Uh oh. He hits twice, the first attack doing 5 points of damage. Second attack doing 2. OH jeez. This dice roller just has it in for Raz. The rat laughs off the damage; his wounds seal themselves right up in front of your very gaze.

I13: Zaeryl might be nauseated by all the bats flying around. Actually I think he’s negative/down.

I11: Juliana might be nauseated by all the freakin’ bat.s. “13”, nah. Will wait on Juliana’s next action.

OOC: Good lord 'Invisible Castle' hates you guys!

Juliana grins at the overconfident Rat and steps towards it, steping up to attack the rat (Yes, I know, provoking an attack of opertunity, but she's not charging, and he no longer could be set with his attack.). "Vargo, I need some help over here. A distraction of some kind would be nice." Juliana will continue to fight defensively as she attepts a trip. (Same rules as above)

OOC: Yes, this could mean certain doom, but I don't know how else to not die, and I'm at 0 in 2 rounds now due to the bats anyway.

(OOC: Zaeryl is unconscious at -1. Thanks to the lovely wounding effect that was tossed in there, all of the unconscious characters are also pretty certainly dead because they are not allowed to stabilise--though if Almayce gets the chance to heal Zaeryl, that would save him.)

OOC: Almayce might move to heal Zaeryl, but that depends on what the swarm decides to do. The swarm is damn annoying.

OOC: No kidding. We'll just have to hope the luck reverses soon.

(OOC: Oh, agreed. Don't go out of your way for Zaeryl. Preventing a TPK is absolutely the highest priority here because I don't see it as possible anyways ;))

OOC: If Rasereit and Ogrin just got some better rolls (*snicker*), they should be able to deal with the two rats. But the others are having a bit harder time with the swarm and the leader-ratman until that.

(OOC: Well ya. I was sooooo pulling for Hallidor to be a vampire or something until he got knocked out. Now Juliana and the druid friends have to take the swarm and the leader...too bad druids don't get those spiffy animal-charming spells yet :()
