Where can I get a grid?

Could someone point me to where I might download a 1-inch grid (battlemat) online to print out?

I've heard that you can make one in a Word document, but if you can I haven't figured out how. If this is true, a quick lesson on how to create such a grid in Word would be just as welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Sup SoCal buddy.

I, too, am interested in this. I'm plannin' on going to CalCopy and gettin' a big sheet of 1" grid printed up and laminated for like two bucks.

Take that 30$ battlemats!

EDIT: Oh Mark, I think I love you.

Those online sources are cool, but I am amazed at the fact that so many gamers don't use the grid that came in the back of the DMG. I laminated mine, bought some Vis-a-vis pens and use it every session. I even aquired a second from one of my players.

Has no one else done this?

I did that with the map from the beginners game box thingy they had for 3.0 of course we don't use that now that my players have Tact tiles.

Here is something that I've created for my Shackled City campaign. It has been created so that you overlap the pages (note the dashed line to align the next page to).

Originally, I used a 1" grid, but found that it took up too much space. So, I created a 0.75" grid. I'll attach both.

Also note that if you print these out, make sure that Adobe Acrobat doesn't do any size adjustments (e.g. fit to printer margins), otherwise the spacing of the overlapped areas will not work out correctly.
