*lol* well I guess it's the same drawer as when Strahd made the cover of Dragon magazine. In "I, Strahd", or elsewhere, it was said that he had slightly pointed elfin hears, for a human.

This is slightly exagerated :)

Doesn't he look like Fabio? :D

But I prefer this to the dead look on the cover.

And overall, I prefer the way he looked before - in his late 40's, mature and mean.

Wait a sec!

THAT was Strahd? That... that... Shifter Swashbuckler?!?

Alas, poor Strahd. I knew him well, Horatio...

The attached picture is for those of you who are interested in XCR and want Strahd to look more... like himself, earning the epithets "Ancient", "Elder" and "Old One".

Nice pic Klaus! Yeah he looks mean and moody there, overdressed (a particular trait of his), and he has the famous pendant necklace. I like the cane.

Personally, I think it was a pretty dumb move to post the stats of the main antagonist on the Wizards site. So much for surprising your players. :\

If thats how your players get their kicks, what would prevent them from walking into a bookstore to get the info? Or if you've barred them from entering bookstores, how about p2p?

Apples and oranges. It's one thing to go out of your way to do the things you suggest, it's quite another to simply see it on the official webpage of the D&D game that is easily and readily accessible to anyone, anywhere, at anytime.

I have to agree that it was a strange move to publish important stats on the site. If there's two PrCs, WotC should have published the most player-friendly one, so players could print it off instead of grabbing the stats from the adventure book.

Just wait until they do a 3.5 adaptation of Citizen Kane and publish Rosebud's stats as a preview!

"Drawer"?

Given Strahd's morphing prowess, it seems characteristic for Strahd to have different aspects, not unlike Francis Ford Copola's Dracula.

Interesting to see what WotC thinks will bump up a character's CR. Permanent nondetecion, 10 points of acid, fire, and sonic resistance, and 6 points of AC. Except for the latter, many parties wouldn't even notice this stuff.

Actually, it looks like the were preparing for Ray Orbison with those energy resists.

Strahd has always had a nondetection effect. As for it being worth a CR point, the players can't kill strahd while he is out of the castle, being able to know when strahd is doing a kamikaze run could be a lifesaver. Plus divinations can be pretty helpful and wotc usually does not simply ignore this.

Klaus,

Wotc has been taking liberties with classic characters and creatures since 2000. Just look at their Carmel carapaced tarrasque or the anorexic displacer beast. On the Elven - Wrinkled Bishonen Strahd, a wotc employee told another wotc employee to tell the artist to "give him elf ears". by the time it gets to the artist, the message is "give him elf features". Combo this with how interior illustrations of elves are supposed to have oversized ears, and you have Elven - Wrinkled Bishonen Strahd.

On your Strahd, Nice work, looks like how strahd would have look in life as he shoved a relative off the castle battlement.
