This rule is probably in a book I don't own, but is it spelled out anywhere how far a winged creature can travel per day?

Same as a non flier with the same speed. Ignoring terrain, possibly having to deal with winds.
20 feet =16 miles
30 feet = 24 miles
40 feet = 32 miles
Only true dragons have thier own special table for overland movement.
