How different should Arcane and Divine magic be?

I hope that the cleric's healing gets disconnected from his magic. The warlock's eldritch blast eliminates the need to load 1st level arcane spells with magic missle. Give the cleric something similar. At will may be too generous, though, for healing.

I've got to ask, what does his head look like?
Behold O Mighty Joseirus... plus the head of a statue of his archenemy, Juanubis.

That is all kinds of win. Maybe he can do a tag team with my superhero character, Harmadillo.
Thanks.

Would Harmadillo fight the Church of Scientology? After my guy gets done fighting Nazis in 1945, he's squaring off against Lord Xenu and his Scientologist minions.

There's some good gaming around here. The campaign w/Joseirus also stars fellow ENWorlder shilsen as Chris.. aka Epic... aka the master of the "Grapple that Dare Not Speak It's Name", and it's run by Atlatl Jones (formerly Michael Tree).

It's the best game I've played in years. Possibly ever.

If the necessity of the cleric is being decreased through assignment to the "leader" role that is also possessed by warlords, is the reliance on clerical healing also being decreased? If so, what is the point of the continued existence of the cleric merely as the walking band-aid? And why should divine and arcane magic be separate entities, especially since in history one land's sorcerer was another land's priest? The distinction seems arbitrary and pointless. If the purpose of the cleric is as the material representative of extraplanar beings, then how is this role not better fulfilled by a modified version of the warlock (with pacts, summonings, conjuring, curses/blessings, etc.) that we have recently heard about?
