OotS 600 is up....

After reading the strip, all I could think to say was "Well played, Mr. Burlew. Well played." Especially as one of my co-workers (herself an OotS fan) was spewing theories about V and the imp's conversation and the results about as fast as Belkar has been spewing the contents of his stomach.

Roy's been my favorite of the OotS, so it was nice to see him again. Especially after the melodrama of the past few strips. I too am looking forward to seeing Horace and Eugene meet. Can't imagine Grampa Greenhilt is going to be too proud of the old geezer for dragging Roy into this mess.

And Grumpy, it wasn't just you. But then again, I'd just watched Blues Brothers this past weekend, so that's my excuse at least ;)

Waa-Hoooo!

Probably just on the "It's a milestone strip and nothing majorly dramatic happened!"

I guess some folks are just way too quick to say something has jumped the shark these days.

Quick? Are you kidding? OotS has been pretty mediocre for a long time now. I only checked it because it was #600 - figured something had to have happened by now. Looks like I was wrong!

Matter of opinion, with which I strongly disagree. Just becuase not every strip is a zinger doesn't mean it's jumped the shark.

But from the sounds of it, you're one of the initial audience that Rich knew was going to get left behind when he did the shift from "constant string of D&D jokes" to extended plot. Considering the strip is still going strong, Rich can still make a viable living off of it, and threads like these keep cropping up... yeah, no shark in sight.

I suppose if you read OotS from the beginning as it was released, you might argue the it jumped the shark when it transitioned from a comic strip about poking fun at D&D rules to a strip with an epic plot. Likewise, since this issue recycles the 4th wall breaking joke from #100, you could say joke recycling is shark jumping.

I disagree but I can understand the attitude.
