The Larcetan

Here is the custom race known as the Larcetan. Let me know what you all think of it.

The Larcetan have been on the land of Ersadia for as long as any can remember. It is said that they are the native inhabitants of Ersadia, before the Coming. No Larcetan kingdoms have been known to exist in the history of the race.
The Larcetan are a goodly race, striving for peace and justice. However, when aroused, the lizard-like people can be devastatingly effective. The spend most of their days, though, crafting great weapons and armor for the simple love of doing so.

Personality: The typical Larcetan is a kind-hearted, bull-headed being that does what is best for the general population of goodly races. They are dedicated craftspeople and love creating new and exciting weapons, armors, and items to help make their lives a little easier or make the world a little safer. The only races on Ersadia that can rival the Larcetanian armor and weaponsmiths are the dwarves and the elves.

Physical Description: Larcetan are anywhere from around 8 feet to 10 feet tall and weigh approximately 500-700 pounds. They are lizard like creatures that walk upon two legs and look like a large velociraptor with arms proportionate to their lizard-like bodies. They are covered in scales that are one of two colors: green or white.
The green scaled Larcetan tend to have yellow to gray eyes and the white (or albino Larcetan) have blue, black, or green eyes. Long sharp claws adorn their hands and feet and they have strong, thick tails that can also be used for attack. Their maws are full of small, sharp teeth in which they can use to rend an opponent within minutes.

Relations: Larcetan generally get along with other races, as long as they are not evil representatives of that race. They revere dwarves, elves, and gnomes for their love of crafting weapons, armor, and other such trinkets. They have a mild tolerance for humans, half-elves and half-orcs because of those short-lived race’s tendencies to rush work and play.
Larcetan take non-standard PHB races on a case-by-case basis.

Alignment: Most Larcetan are lawful in nature. They have a rigid hierarchical structure to their society and each individual is expected to behave and respond accordingly.

Lands: The Larcetan live in the Ivory Valley in the central southern region of Ersadia. They enjoy the tropical climates and the surrounding mountains provide a strategic natural defense system against foreign invaders.

Religion: Larcetan take their religions very seriously. In fact, an individual will not make a life-changing decision without sitting in prayer to their patron or matron god. Larcetan have their own pantheon and their society usually consist of clerics, mystics and paladins. They tend to worship gods of craft, nature, good, law, and war.

Languages: Larcetan have no vocal chords so they are not capable of speech as other humanoids are. However, they have their own language consisting of high pitched squeals and only other Larcetan can hear and understand. This language is not written, so they have no documents from which non-Larcetans can learn the language. One of the most sacred part of Larcetan life is their language and they will not teach it to anyone who is not a Larcetan, ever.
Larcetan also communicate by emitting a scent to other Larcetans. Below, is a list of scents that Larcetan use to communicate with non-Larcetans. Larcetan do not guard this form of communication at all, but rather take pains to teach it to all of those who ask to learn it. It is used for communications with traders and diplomats

Names: Like many civilizations, the Larcetan have many families with trades and occupations that apply to their family name. However, all Larcetan family members have the word “Si” between the first and last names, which means “of”. For example, Bocata Si Nik Nik means “Bocata, of the family Nik Nik”. Below are some examples of family and first names.

Male Names: Bocata, Khallkern, Vakirit
Female Names: Sahtlene, Hharkele, Jakati
Family Names: Nik Nik, Sok Dok, Tir Ter

Adventurers: Larcetan love adventure and love bringing good to the masses of the world as much as any goodly race can. Being craftsmen at heart, they love to adorn themselves in self-made regalia and strike fear into the hearts of their foes before landing a blow or casting a spell.
Larcetan are not particularly interested in treasures, unless it is a finely made article of armor, weapon, or some other item that was well crafted.

Larcetan Racial Traits

· +2 STR, +4 CON, -2 DEX: Larcetan are powerfully built, and very hardy but not very lithe.
· Large-size: As large-size creatures, Larcetan suffer a -1 size penalty to Armor Class, a -1 size penalty on attack rolls, and a -4 size penalty to Hide checks, but can use larger weapons than humans use and their lifting and carrying limits are twice that of Medium-Size characters. Further, their natural reach is greater, allowing them to threaten an area 10 feet around them. See page 131 Player’s Handbook for more information.
· Larcetan base speed is 40 feet. Larectan also have Climb and Swim speeds of 20 feet. The Larcetan are very athletic during their youth, and living in the Ivory Valley entails climbing trees and swimming in the many lakes and rivers that are abundant on the valley floor.
· Low-light Vision: Larcetan can see twice as far as a human in starlight, torchlight, and similar conditions of poor illumination. They retain the ability to distinguish color and detail under these conditions.
· -6 racial penalty to Listen checks. Larcetan have small, poorly developed auditory organs.
· +2 racial bonus to Read Lips, Search and Spot checks. Larcetan, having poor hearing, have to rely on other senses to compensate for it. Further, all Larcetan may make Read Lips checks untrained.
· +2 Natural Armor due to their densely-plated scaly hide. This stacks with their size bonus to natural armor.
· 4 Attacks per round with natural weapons. Primary: Bite, 1d8; Secondary: Claws 1d4, and Tail 1d6
· Scent: (Ex) Larcetan can smell more keenly than other races. They can smell most things within 30’ of them with no wind, 60’ if they are downwind, or 15’ if they are upwind.
· Pounce: (Ex) If a Larcetan leaps upon a foe during the first round of combat, it can make a full attack with its natural attacks even if it has already taken a move action.
· Automatic Languages: Common, Larcetan. Bonus Languages: Any (other than secret languages, such as druidic). See Table4-6 for a comprehensive list.
· Favored Class: Paladin. The Larcetan are a goodly race and strive for virtuous living through divine guidance. Favoring the paladin class is a reflection of this.
· Level Adjustment: +2

The Rager

The Rager

“The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men.
Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother’s keeper, and the finder of lost children.
And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers.
And you will know my name is the Lord, when I lay my vengeance upon thee.”
-Ezekiel 25:17

Within the church of Oti Ni Nuad, the God of Vengeance, is bred a warrior unlike any other. These warriors, called ragers, enact vengeance upon the enemies of the church and the larcetan in the name of their god. The ragers are able to carry out the vengeance with a tenacity that is virtually unmatched anywhere in Ersadia.
Ragers do not believe in striking first. They believe that there is wisdom in letting your enemy show you what he is capable of. Therefore, never will a rager attack first in combat and only when those he truly cares about are injured, will he react with violence. Such control is needed over the deadly weapon the rager can become.
Most ragers are paladins of Oti Ni Nuad, but there are many Larcetan priests who find this to be their calling. A rager who has a background in monk is a deadly adversary indeed, and thus few are trained because of the intense discipline and deadly force a raging monk can deliver. Barbarians, fighters and rangers have been known to enlist in the church and attempt to indoctrinate themselves with the ragers and many have succeeded. Rogue, sorcerer, bard, wizard, and psionicist Larcetan have no business in the church of Oti Ni Nuad, who believes in brute strength and divine influence conquers all. They are openly and actively shunned by the church in regards to indoctrination.

Hit Dice: d8

Requirements
To be a rager, the player character must fulfill the following requirements

Race: Larcetan
Base Attack Bonus: +5
Special: Must be a worshipper of Oti Ni Nuad, the Larcetan God of Vengeance.

TABLE 1: THE RAGER

Class Base Fort Ref Will

8 +8 +6 +2 +2
9 +9 +6 +3 +3 Great Fury
10 +10 +7 +3 +3 Executioner, Vengeful Fury 3/day

Class Skills
The rager’s class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are Bluff (Cha), Climb (Str), Concentration (Con), Craft (Int), Intimidate (Str or Cha), Intuit Direction (Wis), Jump (Str), Knowledge (religion) (Int), Ride (Dex), Search (Int), Sense Motive (Wis), and Spot (Wis). See Chapter 4 of the PHB for skill descriptions.

Skill Points at Each Level: 2 + Int Modifier.

Class Features
Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A rager is proficient in the use of all simple and martial weapons. They are proficient with light, medium, and heavy armors and shields.

Vengeful Fury (Ex): Ragers learn that vengeance sometimes must be dealt with brutal force. A rager goes into a controlled rage, much like a barbarian does, with a few differences. A rager gains +4 to Strength, +4 to Constitution and a +2 morale bonus to Will saves. The rager can rage for a number of rounds equal to 3 + twice his Charisma modifier in rounds.
The rage, however, is not without its penalties. Every time that rager becomes enraged, he takes a –2 to Strength and Dexterity for the remainder of the encounter. He cannot run or charge for the remainder of the encounter.
At 5th level, the rager receives this ability twice per day. At 10th level, the rager receives this ability 3 times per day.

Mark of Reprisal (Su): This ability shows the favor of Oti Ni Nuad and has the ability to allow the larcetan to deal judgment at a later date. By using a touch attack, the rager can surround the target with a glowing white light for approximately 3 rounds. This white light slowly dissipates and is never seen again. Except in the eyes of the rager who gave him the mark and any other ragers in the service to Oti Ni Nuad.
This mark serves as a warning that this individual has wronged the church somehow and that this individual is being hunted by a rager. The rager can determine the exact location of the last recipient of his mark anywhere on the same plane. The downside to this is that the rager has a 10-mile radius in which to search for the creature bearing his last mark. That is to say, the mark does not pin point the location of a creature, but it discerns the creature’s location within a 10-mile radius of his current location.

Judge (Sp): Before dealing out retribution and judgment, a rager needs to make an informed decision about his enemies. This ability allows a rager to determine the exact alignment (on both the law/chaos axis as well as the good/evil axis) of any one person he designates as the target. This ability shows different auras for different alignments and can be blocked or rendered incorrect by spells that block alignment discovery. The rager can use this ability as a standard action and at will.

Hand of Retribution (Ex): A rager is always taught that vengeance is a dish best served cold…and last. Trained to have the final say in any combat, the rager has honed his reflexes to the point where once an enemy strikes him, he can immediately return the strike.
In game terms, any time the rager provokes an attack of opportunity and his enemy chooses to attack, he may make an immediate counter-strike as if the attacking creature had provoked an attack of opportunity from him. A rager may do this a number of times per round equal to the number in parentheses regardless of whether or not he has the Combat Reflexes feat.

Strength of Mind (Ex): The ragers are a determined breed. They do not lose sight of their targets until the task is completed. This means that even through final pleas for mercy or forgiveness that the rager is not deterred from his ultimate goal: vengeance and justice for Oti Ni Nuad.
This ability allows the rager to reroll a saving throw versus a spell, spell-like ability, or supernatural ability that would affect his mind, should he fail the first saving throw. This ability behaves like the rogue’s slippery mind ability and counts as that class feature for qualification of other classes or feats.

Jury (Sp): This ability works like the judge ability, save for the fact that every ally within 60’ of the rager learns the target’s alignment.

Great Fury (Ex): The rager gains a greater understanding of his fury ability. At 9th level, he gains +6 to Strength and Constitution when he rages and is no longer winded after such a rage.

Executioner (Ex): At 10th level, a rager has the ability to deal a lethal amount of damage to his opponents. Whenever a rager scores a critical threat, it automatically becomes a critical hit and deals the maximum amount of damage to the opponent. This reflects the intense physical and mental training that being a Rager involves and their ability to put all their rage and vengeance behind one final strike.
The rager can use this ability a number of times equal to his Charisma modifier per day.

I have both of these in Word format. Send me an email if you would like a copy.

Laurel, it's been said, looks similar to Rebecca De Mornay from The Three Musketeers. Here's some captures I managed to dig up for that.
(Pardon the risque image in the middle.) ;p
