The Captain's Caper! (Dunamin judging)

Girth looked horrified as the drake's acid seared Hrav and as the dragonborn's blade sliced into Alexander.

His eyes flickered between his two allies as he tried to decided which one to aid. In the end it was Alexander's words that decided him; 'Go for the lizards', the fighter had said. And that was what the warlock did...with an added twist!

His fingers wove an intricate pattern as he directed the wrath of his mentor upon the drake before him. What followed was a horrid screech of almost-human almost-laughter which erupted as his power shot out to envelop his designated target.

Confident that his attack would finish off the drake, Girth turned his attention to the other draconid. Using the ethereal power of his Lady he disappeared from existence, reappearing instantly not only closer to his target but also invigorated. Immediately he drew upon all his strength and ability to cast a mighty blast of starpower at the new target.

That's the way Girth! What you gonna do now, lizard?, mocks Alexander while crouching lightning-fast under the dragonborn, stabbing his leg deep, and standing with a violent blow of the shield that pushes away his foe and almost sends him flying, putting him right next to Quagmire. Alex rushes to flank him while keeping an eye on the nearby drake. Did ya like the trip?

[sblock=Hrav's Plans]I absolutely plan to have Backstabber be my 4th level feat. I really wanted Intimidate, though - I didn't feel quite right starting without it, but couldn't decide what else to drop. It absolutely fits his character, though, so I made sure to get it at 2nd level.

With Backstabber being Hrav's 4th level feat, I'll probably take Nimble Blade at 6th level, unless I see a fighter encounter power swap that looks like a really good idea.[/sblock]

This came back to my mind for some reason. At low heroic (and for quite a while, actually) the Fighter's lvl 3 encounter Rain of blows would be great for Hrav. Nets you three (some say four, but I've never really gotten that interpretation) different attacks on the same target with that big rapier of yours; especially in a few levels when you will probably have quite a few static bonus to damage that's hot stuff, probably way better than any rogue encounter at level 3 with Hrav's 18 strenght. At the moment, average damage for a 2W rogue power with CA would be something like 26 I think, while with Rain of Blows 39-40. Well, actually that's considering all three attacks hit, but still... yummy!:][/sblock]

-Quagmire moves to attack the dragonborn as Hrav moves towards him a step. Though the hobgoblins attack misses, his confidence inspires the allies around him to keep fighting on.

-Hrav feels like drek. Quagmire's example helps a little but mostly the bugbear is nearly out on his feet. He takes a moment to steady himself and try to ignore the pain. The acid has stopped burning, or else he just can't feel it anymore. He tries to hit the damned lizard, but can't seem to focus on it well enough to connect.

-Girth moves like lightning once his mind is made up on what to do. His first blast shreds the drake next to Hrav and it finally falls to the bloody sand and is still. He then disappears for a moment and reappears in front of Captain Azrael. He unleashes another blast which injures the dragonborn and immobilizes him for a time.

-Alex stabs the dragonborn and pushes him back with his shield before moving into place to flank the creature.

-The drake behind Alex steps back to move out of the range of his sword before lobbing a glob of acidic spittle at the human. Alex is able to dodge the attack though and the sand sizzles where the glob of acid lands on the beach.

-The remaining dragonborn swings its sword at Quagmire, but the warlord dodges the blow easily. The creature shakes its head to clear it scowls at its foes. (Made its save to get rid of the -2 to Will Def)

-Your turn, Mostly Monstrous Crew... looks like the tide of this fight has shifted.

[sblock=ooc]phoenix, I'm pretty sure that Girth's second attack was directed at the drake, since:
In the end it was Alexander's words that decided him; 'Go for the lizards', the fighter had said. And that was what the warlock did

Also, since D1 is marked by Alexander and attacked Quag, Alex gets to make a combat challenge attack against the dragonborn: Misses anyway.

Btw, Digger, with bad luck gone, Girth's rocking the fight huh? :D[/sblock]

"Now, Alex!" Quagmire calls as he strikes, driving his rapier deep between a pair of loose scales. "Hrav, stop foolin' around and get back here!"

Just logged back on - sorry for any delay. Girth's target was the drake but I've only just realised I said 'draconid' which could have meant either.

I only have a minute or two as I have to take my mother out and won't be back till late tonight (c. another 8 hours or so) so I don't have time to think it out. Can you please organise it as you think fit. It probably doesn't matter who he hit and rather than retconning it, perhaps we should just leave it as it is? I'm easy either way.

And, Yes, what a difference a few reasonable rolls make:lol:

a bientot

[sblock=Hrav's Plans]Rain of Blows may be nice, and yeah, having the 18 Strength makes Fighter powers totally viable. I'll keep it in mind![/sblock]
