The Captain's Caper! (Dunamin judging)

ooc: Note that Impetuous Spirit is an immediate reaction, and therefore 1/round. So either Quagmire or Hrav (hopefully Hrav) should take a bit less damage. If it's Quagmire that gets hit, he will go ahead and use inspiring word on himself, healing 7+1. If it's Hrav, he'll hold on to it. His stat block below assumes that it was Quag that got hit.

"Good thing you haven't bathed recently, eh Hrav? That stuff will only take off some surface dirt." Quagmire quips, distracting Hrav from the pain. He circles behind the near drake and waits for Hrav to move into position opposite it, rapier poised for a distracting thrust.

[sblock=actions]minor: inspiring word on hrav, heals surge+3.
move: to U13, avoiding an OA from the drake
standard: ready action to attack with Hammer and Anvil when Hrav moves adjacent to the drake. Hits Reflex 13 for 6 damage, and if that hits, Hrav gets a free basic melee attack.

OOC: Thanks for the catch, Covaithe. I've edited the above to take out the 2nd Impetuous hit on Hrav and also applied Quagmire's Inspiring Word on himself. The HP totals above should be correct now.

So... grins Alexander, You can't get away and your buddies are falling one after the other. Should've chosen 'nother job huh?
Alexander swings his sword again, but the Dragonborn is on par with him in swordplay, and parries with his sword.

ooc:doesn't look like Alex will need to endure much.

-Quagmire delays and tries to hit the spitting drake at the same time as Hrav, but the quick little beast dodges his strike.

-Hrav moves up to flank the creature with Quagmire and hits it solidly in a vital spot. (Hammer and Anvil missed, so creature took basic hit + SA dmg = 22 total)

-Girth blasts the same drake as Quagmire and Hrav are attacking with his dark light. It shrieks in pain.

-Alex continues to trade attempted strikes with the dragonborn, still unable to pierce its defenses.

-The drakes once more spit their goo at Hrav together after the one they are flanking steps out from between them. Both globs of spittle hit, but the one from the farthest drake catches Hrav right in the face and even goes in his mouth some! (Crit for 14 damage plus another 6 damage from the closer drake)

-The dragonborn swings once more at Alex, but misses. It instantly uses the backswing of its sword to spin around and try striking a second time. This move finally breaks through Alex's blocking and cuts him slightly. (9 damage)

[sblock=Init/Status]21 - Quagmire 23/31 HP - bloodied

Quagmire winces at the hit to Hrav's face. He almost goes after the drake again, but thinks better of it and runs to help lead the attack against the remaining dragonborn. "Hrav, step this way for a second before you finish that lizard off!" he calls over his shoulder.

[sblock=actions]Gambling that Hrav and Girth can take down S2 this turn...
Move: to Q11
Standard: Ready attack with Bastion of Defense when Hrav moves within 5 spaces. If I understand right, Hrav can take a step W, trigger this, then keep moving wherever he likes. Hits AC 17 for 20 damage. If that hits, which it probably doesn't, allies within 5 gain +1 power bonus to defenses for the encounter. Whether it hits or misses, allies within 5 gain 8 temp HP. Note Quagmire doesn't get the temp HP.

[sblock=ooc]Possibly. I was mainly interested in throwing out the temp HP from bastion of defense, since I don't have any other way of healing Hrav at the moment. I was a bit torn between that and going after the drake, but I figured this was the more leader-ish action. Going after the drake would have been more striker-ish, so I'll let the strikers do that.[/sblock]

Hrav moves closer to Quag to follow his lead, then circles back towards the spitting drake. He steels himself for the rest of the fight, then takes a wild swing with his rapier. Apparently, some of that acid had gotten in the bugbear's eyes.

[sblock=Mechanics]Move action - Move to T11 to be in range of Quag's bonus, then move to W12.

Standard action - Second Wind, spending a surge and healing 7 HP, gaining +2 to all defenses until the end of Hrav's next turn.

Action Point! Grants 4 HP due to Quag's Inspiring Presence.

Standard action - Piercing Strike against S2.

Piercing Strike S2. (1d20+8=9, 1d10+4=8)

Hits Reflex 9 for 8 damage - miss on the natural 1.[/sblock]
