Confused - Difficulty Class Errata

In the errata, it appears they changed the table on page 42 of the DMG, basically reduces the DCs by 5 across the board.

Does this mean I should reduce the DCs listed in the my Player's Handbook Skills Section by 5?

For example, the Knowledge skill list DCs as: Common as 15, Expert as 20, and Master as 25. Should this now be 10, 15, 20?

In other words, does this change in the errata impact all sourcebooks released prior to the errata?

My suggestion is, set DC's for most things according to your expectations for how difficult something should be, rather than "by the book" or "by the errata".

When in doubt, leave the "set" PHB things alone - I mean, there's some Heal DC's of 10 in the PHB (gift Second Wind?), which you really don't want to bring down to a 5, right? ;)

In the errata, they don't make you carry updates from one piece like that through the rest of any other books yourself - they update everything that changes.

For example, what you are referring to was indeed updated in the skills section of the PHB (see attached). And you will also see DC numbers updated all over the place in various other books as they apply.

You have helped me overcome a ton of confusion related to errata. Thanks! :)
