[Adventure] A Boy and His Dog (DM: stonegod; Judge: r1)

"How about this, then? Lhavarr and I go down there, work our way around to where the boy is. Vimak, you stay up here and hold the safety line- Elkrysn, Torqua, Sapo stay up here for now as well. If we can get to him, we'll get the line on him- and if something pops up out of the muck, you've got a good shot to magic it to death. If we find the ground too treacherous, Torqua can try her flight, I guess- maybe fly in with the rope trailing and we can pull her and the boy out." Johanna tried to keep her voice level and calm, but it seemed obvious that she would rather be DOING something than talking about it.

OOC: So, move around the 'top' of the map in marching order (outside the crater), to about G 20. Vimak to stay back with the line- he can anchor at the rock by G20, and he'll be able to pull anyone out. Elkrysn and Torqua to stay back for arcane ranged cover. Sapo to stay back because going close to the stone might make the infection worse Very Quickly. Lhavarr and Johanna to go in (each can have one rope tied to their belts- I think Vimak is strong enough to drag both at once), down the rim at about I 20 and moving betwen the two groups of green goo- Johanna for durability, Lhavarr for Ardent-y goodness. If it looks like we can't make it in, Torqua can fly in and we can pull her and the boy out (since not enough flight to get to the boy and back). If all that fails, we need to regroup/rethink.

"Well, I rather me and someone else go down, grab the boy and fly out. But if you want me to cover you from up here, then I guess I'm fine with that." Torqua says. "Just remember, my little flying trick would only work on me and one other person, but I think it will be fine with boy as well if I just carry him. Laws of magic are annoyingly tricky sometimes."

The group carefully makes its way around the lip of the pool, the sibilant gurgle of the waters the only other sound. Vimak ties a rope to Northwoman and the half-elf, who then carefully make their way towards the boy.

Carefully making their way between the green growths, Lhavarr notices something disturbing—there are remains within them. Humanoid, by the looks, but decayed and twisted as if their flesh was molded by a mad claymaker. He hops back in horror as the white eyes of one open. They are coming to life!

OOC: Now would be a good time for init. Here is your current positions.[sblock=Map]

The lip is difficult terrain going up and down; an Athletics check (DC varies) can be made as part of a move action to make this normal movement.

Big rocks give cover; smaller rubble is difficult terrain. Green blobs are the pustules; walking through them is possible. Water is not difficult terrain but it costs 1 extra square of movement to enter/leave it. The lighter stone near the boy/rock looks to be somewhat unsteady.

Red glow is the shard; green cross is the boy. Forgot to put dog on map but he is nearby.[/sblock]

Vimak Stonecarver

Vimak looks if he can secure the rope somewhere, as he will need both hands in a fight.

[sblock=ooc]

Do we got an additional AP for bracing a second encounter?

Initiative (1d20+4=8)

Vimak will try to secure the rope on the rocks. Is this an athletics check, because it also covers climbing?
