Level 1 Delve

mps42

First Post
I have put together a Level 1 delve called the Caves of Kevlarnin. I do not pretend that it is a great work of story telling or even a great delve. Many parts of it were ripped straight out of the Dungeon Delve book. But, nevertheless, here it is. feel free to use all or part of it in any way and to distribute freely.
Zip file contains:
Caves of Kevlarnin Doc file (including custom stat blocks and tokens)
6 8x8 custom cave dungeon tiles
Separate image files for each token for separate printing or use with maptools.

I have also attached one of the monster tokens for quality evaluation. All tokens are similar.

If you should happen to play this, please post on how it went!

Game on!

It's very Beetle-centric, only had a brief look of course...

Spell-check 'Beetels'

Suggest some DCs for Skill Challenge.

Some of the monster stats still contain the Kobold elements you've swiped them from, so the Soldier mentions Skirmisher in the text, and Kobold at one point.

A little odd with the Hatcher doing Cold damage, and one of the others doing 1d8+0 damage.

Other than that it works, although I'd try and find an edge to it, see Blackdirge Publishings excellent Creepy Critters if you get a chance, there's a lovely little encounter/delve in there with Giant Ants invading an Alchemist's Basement, check here for their stuff-

Why not spice it up a bit, and get some new monsters into the mix by having the Beetles be in the middle of a war with the Ants/some other Bug for territory.

Or even have the final confrontation broken up when something that eats Beetles bursts through the floor abnd makes it a three way fight.

Just a good idea to get something other than the Beetles in there.

Beautiful tokens by the way, and a great start.

Cheers Goonalan

Proofing

See, this is why REAL designers and authors have proof-readers. Ah well.

For better or worse, was "beetle-centric" on purpose for 2 main reasons. First, thematically I wanted the idea that you were descending into a beetle hive and second I wanted to use the opportunity to learn some on how to re-theme and modify some monsters to see how that went.

Done.

Done on purpose but will change.

Fixed!

Hatcher doing cold damage was my miss, the other is straight out of the Monster Builder stat-block... Hatcher fixed and the other changed from +0 to +2 for a little more punch.

I will definitely look at the link you gave.
Thanks on the Tokens, I like them as well! They print okay on regular paper and look great printed on Photo paper!
Honestly, the thing I was most worried about was the skill challenge. hopefully works as intended.
Thanks for giving it a look and for the feedback. Will upload corrected stuff.
