I hate character sheets

Well, I don't hate character sheets in general, I hate the ones that look like an Excel spreadsheet. I mean, if Pathfinder has all that awesome art, why can't we get a character sheet that looks really cool?

Here's my stab at it of making one of my own. Hope ya'll like it. I did it off of Publisher.

That sheet is very pretty. I love it. Now, to see if I can use your sheet as inspiration and create something for Savage Worlds. :)

That is a nice looking sheet. I like the style. Using it would definitely give a modern feel to the game.

As someone that has made my own 3.5/PF character sheets, the issue I have with doing something similar to what you have done is that there is a lot of space going to waste. With the amount of info we need on a sheet, it requires a lot of space. I much prefer to keep it all on as few sheets as possible. Preferably a two-sided sheet for all PC crunch & a separate sheet for spells. This tends to require the sheet to look more bland since there isn't much room for the fancy graphics.

Believe me, I wish I could do fancy graphics. I do artwork/graphics/animation for a living. I did make mine with color coding which spiced it up a bit. If I really wanted to, I could probably Photoshop the sheet and create more elaborate borders and things. It's been years since I made mine. Maybe I should see if it is possible to add a page sized image in Excel and use the cells as invisible input boxes. That way I can create nice boxes in PS instead of using the boring lined boxes from the Excel cells.

Cool for low levels, but at level 10 and above you'll have feats and spells and equipment listed to have a sheet down to your shoes. You'll need several pages by then and a real excel sheet can do that best )

Unless you design several pages *chuckle*

Same thought occurred to me, but I can do a two-sided char sheet and that should cover all 20 levels for Pathfinder. A bigger (and in my opinion more fun) challenge will be doing something for HERO System or Rolemaster. Though I think the next char sheet that I would like to do is one for Iron Kingdoms.

Tahaaa... even the equipment for most of my groups above level 8 wouldn't fit in on a 2-page well enough to be read.

Unless the bag of holding gets its own character sheet.

Digital character sheets can look however you want. While your design is pretty on the computer, I'd hate to print that out at home.

Character sheets are white and plain typically because they are printed at home, need to be easy to read with penciled in numbers and notes (often very small) and have a lack of ink to prevent erasure bleeding.

A huge part of this is system design. With OMEN, you can get everything relevant (if you don't mind not having all of the "sources" of each modifier listed) on a 3x5 index card, hand written, and can easily fit all of the relevant information on a single page, including the more crunchy aspects of the system.

Pathfinder and d20 systems have a lot of crunch, especially with lots of feats, spells, and equipment. But, your sheet is pretty, just not conducive for actual table use (in my opinion.)

When I made PC sheets for my 4e hack I put them into a booklet format. On one side you have the stats and on the other the rules for using them.

My goal was to make it so that players only needed to reference their character "sheet".

That's a lovely looking sheet. For electronic use it would be great, but I wouldn't want to print it!

The big problem with the post-3e editions is that they need to "show their working". It's not enough to simply list the Rogue's Disable Device as +13 - we need to know how much of that is an equipment bonus, how much is a synergy bonus, how much comes from his Dex modifier, and so on... as any and all of these things can be changed and will necessitate a recalculation.
