[MEG-Contest] Mini-Painting contest dates extended till 3/1 due to site being down

MEG Hal

First Post
Here is what I have planned-
Starting today till 3/1 you paint a mini that can be used in any of our settings or books and send it to me and I will judge it with author Ken Shannon. When your mini is done e-mail me and I will reply with my address, it must be postmarked by 3/1 to qualify and we will announce winners 3/15.

We will have 1st, 2nd and 3rd place and what they will win is:
Picture and credit on our site of the mini's.
The mini will appear as an NPC in an upcoming book of MEG's with a possible illustration and the painter will receive a mention on the title page, free copy of that book.
And in addition the first place winner will receive $75 in MEG product, 2nd $50 and third $25.

As far as rules, no rules you may create your own mini or use a pre-existing one, as long as it is painted we will be looking for:
-quality of paint job
-how well it is themed to the book/setting

So when you mail it also send e-mail addy, name of mini and what book/setting and why.

Also by entering you are giving the ownership of the mini to MEG so we can take pictures of all the mini's.

If you choose to have any non-winning mini returned just send postage and I will be happy to ship it back.

I made this contest so people did not have to know trivia etc...let the creative talents flow. We will see how it does!

Can I be a judge? I like seeing really well done minis.

I have a digital camera but Ken and I live in same town so I new it would be easy, how about you are a tie breaker, if we both like different ones we will take a snappy and you can help decide on who is right (mmm, that would always be me BTW :D )

When you e-mail me please put "Mini contest" in the subject line get a few hundred e-mails a day and this will help me get the info to you ASAP.

Don't forget Interludes: Sands of Pain is out so we will take a look at desert themed stuff as well.
And to inspire those who will send in mini's:

Can we send a digital photo of our mini or do we have to give up the mini and send it to you?

My concern of digital was mainly that I do not know you painted it...did you get the picture from the web, or something, also if the pic is not clear and I have others in person, you probably will not win, and that was not fair either, so we need to see the mini to be fair and to get pictures of the winners etc...if you send it with some postage I will be happy to send it back to you just put the info in the box when you send it. I understand if you want it back. I was trying to figure out a contest that would be different (not trivia or writing) and still be creative on a different level. So please send it in but know that if you send postage I will make sure it gets back to you...promise!

Do you happen to know where to get the treasure minis that were in that image?

Since I took that picture yes I do....all of that is Dwarven Forge accessory packs, as well as Dwarven Forge dungeon tiles.

It is a good set of stuff and of course the photos highlighted them wonderfully, the photographer must be a master at his craft :D .

The mini on the left is Caltros the Witty, my bard and an NPC in Gaming Frontiers #4. He is not part of the contest, but the artist may send in one that is.
