New cover art for the Revised PHB and DMG?

Don't know why, but it' Alhandra's picture that drives me nuts, not Hennet's. Oh, and Mialee (aka "Dumbo the elf"). She has to be about the most horribly deformed elf ever.

Most of the illos in the prestige class section of Song and Silence are dead on to what I'd like to see. Not completely historically accurate, but not outlandish, either.

I actually like the chapter intro artwork. The whole DaVinci's sketchbook and parchment look is perfect for the feel of the game.

I also like the pic that Illuminae posted above, especially the leftmost panel (she looks like a vampire in the middle). The armor's a bit "enhanced" (not historical), but it's not absurd.

Sometimes she does, sometimes she doesn't. I not particularly hung up on the hobbittish look (which is an entirely different topic).

RANT mode on:

3 things:

1. I HATE the way they deformed the elves, just to avoid unavoidable comparisons to Tolkien.

2. I HATE the way they made Halflings look like some scrap-H.R.Giger´s-ALIEN-animatronic-leftover, just to blahblah you know the rest...

3.Mialee is the Iconic Dumbo, but her reign was officially over when they released the DMG with the ARCANE *cough* DEFORMITY *cough* ARCHER! Her ears are located between her eyes an the top of her head!

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!

Regdar thinks that both of these books had fine art, even with it being old. It gave a certain feel to the work.





And No, Regdar does not care for the current "Re-Visioned," pieces from Kenzer.

I like the tome look. Its less cartoony.

I like Dungeon-punk. At least it wasn't Dungeon-Glam. (i.e. Goth)

Historicly Dungeon-Drab is about as far off as Dungeon punk, by god my fantasy role playing is gonna have PANTS.

The buckles and pouches are probably more accurate, but there are pockets in my fantasy (why no one would think of this for thousands of years is beyond me, as well as buttons.

Halflings are not hobbits as the hobbit look is sort of tired in fantasy, and tends to get over done. I like halflings in all shapes and sizes and variety. And in PANTS.

Pants, pockets, buttons, pouches, buckles and crazy hats. Thats what its all about. combine it all and you get Dungeon-"punk" but really its just how people would probably look when having as many dressing options as we do today.

The middle ages were no simple times. There was nothing simple in that time period. Dress religion and everything else were vas complex as they are now. As are all times. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling somthing.

You misspelled "Dave Trampier."

No artist has ever captured "D&D" the way he did. Especially not freaking Larry Cheesecake Elmore.

Though Jeff Dee was good, too.

My vote is for more of the current 3e style. 2e's art direction was a dark, dark time that is best forgotten. And speaking of forgotten, the more they can make the core books look as amazing as the 3e FR books have, the better, imho.

That is not right! since when were anyone's ears level with their FOREHEAD? Maybe an enemy Cleric cast 'Bestow Curse', or something, because that is just plain WRONG.
