We had a few emails about this product line and In the Saddle in particular. I will be answering them here as a sort of frequently asked questions. As well as responding to questions here as you make them.

Tensen... if you don't mind me asking, will the undersea be released before the air creatures? And will this title be used for the release of bestiaries?

....actually I sorta asked that wrong in relation to the sea creatures... I figured most would be for aquatic based riders only... mere creatures and such. Which leads me to another question, if you do release a collection of water based mounts in the future as you did for land, would both underwater and above water be supported?

How like staff to be the first ones asking the questions.

The official answer on will it be used to release bestiaries.... is that the product line is appropriate for bestiaries.
The product line:
Fur and Feather, Scale and .... skin/claw
Is designed to further flesh out wilderness and ecologies. Anything from a book on hunting, to picking wild flowers, to determining the diet of a creature through their fecal mater....is appropriate to the series.

I guess it all comes down to the fact that The Wilderness Survival Guide was a great idea, and every d20 publisher wants to put out a book that actually delivers on that old title's promise (since the original surely didn't). :)

As someone who habitually plays Rangers (even if I don't like the standard Ranger class), a book that actually DOES fulfill the promise of a book that tells you everything you'll ever need to know about the wilderness would be SO nice... even if it's a series of books (which is more than likely the best way to go, good thing it seems to be the current trend).

And yes, I had nothing to actually contribute to the thread, just felt like posting :P

I can't say that is exactly true. I've been designing wilderness type things for gaming for 20 odd years or so. They are my favorite type of campaigns, and characters and well, when I was a player I never had enough things that I could do.

On a side note. Rangers and Shamans are my favorite sorts of characters. From playing the little know Shamanic type character release in a small sourcebook under 1st edition, to playing with the modified one in Spells and Spellcraft (2nd edition)... to having the variety in d20.
