Delving into the eerie catacombs I call "my basement"...

... I found this, which I have no memory of owning and have certainly never played, but it's apparently followed me undiscovered through 2 moves since the early 90s. Anybody tried it?

never tried, but I know it as a trimmed down version of MERP.
It was also translated in Italian during the 90s :)

(sorry for the double post)
The same system powered also the LotR gamebooks of the 80s (some of them were tranlsated in Italian during the 90s, also!).

A cool entry for more mature roleplaying games it is. I bought it 25 or so years ago thinking it's a kind of boardgame or sth (in communist Poland roleplaying games were very obscure to say the least so I had no clue what's that). I was in deep love for JRR Tolkien back then so seeing it's LotR made me want it.

Couldn't understand and grasp what's this about but we started playing with friends almost immediately. I remember the choices of class and race were somewhat limited, tied to the archetypes found in Tolkien's books. And the mechanics were as simple, only d6 were usee afaik. But it was exteremly fun, we've played it a lot until we've discovered ad&d and warhammer. It made me a GM and it was a start of a wonderful hobby I stick to this.day so seeing your post made me shed a small tear :)
