From the developers of Tournaments, Fairs and Taverns comes a book of games far more dark and brutal. Deadly games played for great stakes, in front of the audience of the rich and jaded. Captured slave fighters and some few foolhardy gladiators fight it out against each other and monsters within the trap-filled arena-dungeons of the Society of the Sinister Sport.

Useable either as the backbone of an ongoing campaign, or as a one-shot evening's worth of gaming when you don't have an adventure ready, Deadly Games provides everything you need to use these sinister sports at whatever degree you'd like. Sample characters have been provided for one-off games, and each of the four dungeon-arenas are ready-made to be used with minimal prep time.

Deadly Games, coming soon in PDF and PoD (Print on Demand) editions from E.N.Publishing. Written by Brian Patterson, with art by Dave Hendee, Tom Martin, Joe Minns, Benjamin Richards, Tony Monorchio and JL Jones, and maps of the four arena-dungeons by Rob Lee. Edited by Ryan Nock.

And if the art guidelines I worked from are anything to go by, it's going to be pretty twisted stuff... this really gives a DM an excuse to get sadistic on their players. I heartily approve.

Do you mean art like this, an image of the Well of Fiends, the most dangerous of the Society's arenas? Image by Dave "littlejohn" Hendee.

OoOOooh. Much charming. Actually I was thinking of the "Jaws" piece I did in terms of really being cruel, but I haven't seen any of the other art from the project yet, so I await my complementary copy with much anticipation. And of course I'll be urging my hundreds of fans to buy the thing themselves.

(That Jaws piece... it's modeled on real life. We have cats. You'll know what I mean if you see the picture.)

Crossing my fingers

Hello all, Brian Patterson here. With the release of Deadly Games approaching I am quickly becoming quite the fan-boy. This project was a lot of fun to work on and I hope that all of you are pleased with the final results. If the hard work and effort Ryan, Duncan, artists, and everyone involved is any measure of how cool and useful this book will be then it should knock your socks off. Ryan has done an amazing job of taking my words and making them even better than before. All of the art so far has matched the look and feel for the written text better than I could have ever dreamed. Thank you all.

Also, I will be available here to help out with any questions or errata that may pop up after the release. I look forward to helping out in any way possible as well as reading your comments about Deadly Games itself.

:)

Well, not all the art is quite as dark as this piece. There's some slightly more humorous pics, like this Dungeonsurfing.
