My first edition, my favorite edition. I'm really pleased to see it make it all the way to the Top 4.

That was my first guess... and was sadly eliminated a ways back (it was the first I played, and one of the four editions I was voting for).

Yep, "Holmes" Basic vs. "Moldvay" Basic. It's been a point of contention in this thread about whether or not they are the same thing, and which of the two is considered the "true" basic. The comments are interesting to read (the history of our hobby in general is interesting to me), so I don't want to discourage the discussion. But my vote doesn't change: I'm all about those brightly-colored boxed sets, optional rules, and their Elmore artwork!

I think he's referring to what's generally known as B/X...

Different versions of Basic D&D.

Weird, so what you're telling me is that when I supplemented my "B/X" boxed sets with the Companion and Master sets I was actually combining editions?

I honestly thought what I had was just an earlier printing of what is the "BE" in BECMI. I still have my first basic rule book so I should check the copyright page. 🤷‍♂️
