It's very easy; just sort of improvise. Here's a particularly well-known unique item:

The Grandfather - Major Artifact
The legends name this blade "the Grandfather" for its age, for there have been stories of the epic deeds performed with this sword since the birth of civilization, and perhaps before then. It functions as a +5 greatsword with numerous very powerful special abilities. A wielder of the Grandfather gains a bonus to his attack and damage rolls equal to one-half of his base attack bonus*, gains a +6 enhancement bonus to his Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, and Charisma ability scores, and has his maximum number of hit points increased by +40 as long as he holds the blade.

* This aims to dublicate the +50% AR bonus and the bonus damage based on character level.

Ferret: Hello Ferret! Sure, I have some items I converted some time ago. I tried to stay as true as possible to the original items, but some abilities don't make sense at all in D&D (such as faster hit recovery, + to mana etc).

But anyways, hope you find them useful! :)

Arkaine's Valor: There are many stories about the legendary warrior known as Arkaine. It is thought that she originally came from the empire of Westmarch, and roamed the lands to the east and south. Arkaine was last seen in Tristram, where she ventured alone into the forgotten catacombs beneath the village. Arkaine used splendid and well-crafted armor from Westmarch, an armor that functions as a +2 banded mail of invulnerability. The character wearing this armor also gains a +2 enhancement bonus to Constitution.

Bloodslayer: This ancient weapon was lasted wielded by the angel Ezra. He was regarded as a strong and brave warrior, but merciless and unforgiving in the face of his enemies. Led under the command of the angel Izual, Ezra was defeated during the early periods of the Great Conflict, where the weapon was also lost. Bloodslayer functions as a +2 holy demon-bane waraxe. The blade edge was roughly around 17 inches and attached to a long wooden shaft around 50 inches long.

Griswold's Edge: This legendary sword was made upon the Anvil of Fury, forged by the hands of the blacksmith Griswold of Tristram. The blade was rumored to have been used by the Dark Wanderer himself, when he fought Diablo beneath Tristram. The weapon functions as a +3 flaming longsword of speed. The wielder also gains the Improved Trip feat for free and a +4 bonus on any Strength checks as part of an attempt to trip an opponent. The wielder only gains these bonuses when using this weapon. The blade has an odd drawback that forces the Character to make a Foritude save each day or take 1 point of temporary Consitution damage.

Sword of Inferno: This infernal weapon was forged in the deep pits of Hell, some rumors even claim that it was made in Hellforge itself. It was last used by an individual only known as the Warlord of Blood. This weapon functions +1 flaming burst longsword. The bearer gains Lightning Resistance 30 (as per the ring major elemental resistance), and the blade also sheds a dark red light equivalent to a torch when drawn.

Thundercall: This mighty staff was forged by a powerful sorcerer, whose name has been lost long since. What little remains of his memory is the strange mark found on this item. The mark is a combination of symbols that resembles those once used by the ancient Vizjerei mage-clan. Unlike many sorcerers, he was probably a formidable warrior as well as a skilled magician. The wielder of Thundercall may use the following spells:

- Call Lightning (1 charge, DC 14)
- Lightning Bolt (1 charge, DC 14)
- Resist Elements [Lightning] (2 charges)

The staff (actually a two-bladed sword in D&D) is also a +1 shock/+1 shock two-bladed sword, and its wielder may use as if he was proficient with it. The two-bladed sword also sheds a bright blue-white light equivalent to a torch when drawn. Caster Level: 8th

This was all I could find at the moment; I seem to have misplaced the original file somewhere else. If you are interested in more items, I can try to find to find the file. Let me know! :)

comrade raoul: Hi Raul! That was a really nice interpretation of the Grandfather, but not something that I would give my PCs! :)

If you can find them one of the books put out for the Diable D20 covered how some of the "diablo" style weapons would convert to D20 D&D like weapons for abilities and all.

You're right -- it's certainly a game-breaker. I realized after the fact that the poster called for a conversion of Diablo I items, not the more recent Diablo II -- and this Grandfather is a conversion of the sword from that game (which was, of course, an extremely rare, high-end unique object suited to that game's version of epic-level play).

Wow is it in there?? It's nice to see some other people who like the game.

Request for Gnarled root; it must be the best unique in the game.

More items

Shadow64: Hi Shadow! Wow, that sounds great! Do you mean the official Diablo II RPG produced by WotC or is there another one that I am not aware of (wouldn’t surprise me)? ;)

Ferret: Yes, I remember this item quite well ... mostly because it was one of the harder items to convert. If I recall correctly, it looked something like this:

Gnarled Root: This crooked, oversized, wooden club appears to be a regular tree branch, but is actually a root from the Tree of Inifuss. In the hands of any character other than a druid, this club performs only as a +1 club. In the hands of a druid, its true powers awaken. It then deals double damage on any hit and the wielder gains a +4 luck bonus to attack rolls and weapon damage. Because of its unusual shape and weight, the character finds it harder to defend himself or herself while wielding it and suffers a -2 penalty to AC. The wielder also gains a +2 resistance bonus against all spells and spell-like abilities.

Or at least something among these lines ...

And here are some two other items:

Empyrean Band: This ring was once given as a gift to a family that had a young girl with potential of becoming a Zann Esu. This was one of many tokens, given as a sign of Zann Esu’s gratitude towards the family to let them train their only daughter into sorceress. When worn, the wearer gains a +2 competence bonus to all Strength, Dexterity, Constitution and Charisma checks as well as skills the above key abilities. The wearer may also use the light spell at will and gains the use of the evasion special ability (as per a 2nd level rogue) to avoid damage dealt from traps.

Scavenger’s Carapace: The true origins of this armor is unknown, but a sorcerer named Jerfaya from the Far East came close to the truth. He rediscovered the armor a few years ago, before the darkening of Tristram. Since the armor itself constantly howls, moans and screams while worn, Jerfaya came to believe that the Scavenger’s Carapace (as he called it) was actually alive or inhabited by some evil spirit. This rather strange piece of +1 breastplate provides no armor bonus to AC, only its enhancement bonus. The armor has a maximum Dexterity bonus of +8, and no armor check penalty. The wearer gains a +2 circumstance bonus to Dexterity checks and checks using skills which Dexterity is the key ability. In addition to this, the Scavenger’s Carapace also provides Damage Reduction 10/+2 and lightning resistance 10.

Take care!

Hmm. I don't like that Gnarled root conversion... Let me give it a few changes... Doesn't need to be a druid...Can't defend with it(no AC minuses)... Thats cool, I don't think the AC change is necessary, Diablo has very differtent rules for AC.

Now my feat are wet, just as well get them soaked.

The grizzly
This gruesome runed sword is fabled to be Griswalds weapon when he was an adventurer. The sword has passed to many hands now, as the people who weild it seem to attract a lot of attention from others. it is a +3 bastard sword that grants a +8 to strength, the blood smaered over it though increses the risk of poisoning and grants a -2 to con.One of the other factors is that it gives the "bullrush" feat and when held two handed it deasl double damage.

The protector
This vicious looking Morning star is a defending in nature(and +4) It can also attack whilst defending, and all attackers take 1d4-1 damage when making an attack(full attacks do not recive 2d4-2 damage etc). The last trick up the sleeve is that it has 16 charges of heal, 20 of cure critical, 50 of Cure moderate.
