Corse moves forward; not as far as the cave mouth or the fire, but to position herself between the monsters and her wards.

She loooks around -- how much space is up here? How wide is the ledge? -- she doesn't know if she's about to negotiate or fight.

The snow-covered ledge looks about 35 feet wide to Corse, tapering to 25 feet near the cave mouth, and to about 15 feet further up the mountain from the cave.

As Lumrolur creeps into the cave ahead of the party, he can see a chasm about 80-feet deep spanned by a sheet of ice 1-foot thick to the left and a more solid natural rocky bridge to the right. The yeti footprints follow the right rocky path. There are sounds of what might be high-pitched yowling or whimpering, it's hard to tell with the way sound echoes here.

GM: @Steve Gorak Aric can ignite the bonfire spell at the end of either the ice sheet or rocky bridge – it won't shed very much light, let's say 5 feet, but it may be visible to any creatures within.

Russet confers what he learned about the scuffle outside the cave.

If anyone wants to try taking sense into a yeti, be my guest.
Says russet, checking his weapons and stretching his legs ready for a fight. But we harengon have a saying "I was in a warren feeding a bunny and a bunch of heavily armed yetis wandered in then I probably wouldn't be in the mood for a friendly chat". In fact, he adds with a sarcastic smile, I'd probably think any bonfire was to try and smoke us out. But who knows, yetis might be more reasonable than us highly sprung types.

Aric, do those whimpering sound like goats to you?

Corse proceeds closer to the bonfire, stepping carefully, hoping to catch a glimpse into the cave.

She's not hiding; she supports herself along the ice with her staff.

Zeth peers in.

"The cave goes further than I can see."

He motions to the blodstains.

"I'd assume we'll be attacked if we enter. Unless any of you have some way to protect us while we attempt diplomacy we should prepare for battle. And that's assuming these things are capable of communication, for all we know they're more pack predators."

"Unfortunately, protection magic isn't my specialty. Likewise, I find communication unlikely. Yeti have their own language and it's unlikely any of us speak it. Unless Aric can manage it. Even then, they are known to be quite aggressive."

Alma watches Lumrolur disappear into the depths of the cave. As soon as he slips into the shadows, he's as good as gone. Before he can get too far, she reaches out telepathically.

In his head, Lumrolur hears Alma's voice echo, backed by the faint whispers of numerous others, You said you're from the Underdark. You should have much better vision in there than any of us. You can report your findings to me like this. I can communicate with you for up to three miles, but I strongly suggest returning before that.

Neurotic

I plan on living forever. Or die trying.
Lumrolur stops suddenly at the voice in his head. He relaxes as he realizes what is happening.
"Thank you. For now, there is a chasm with an ice bridge on the left, I'm checking it out, on the right is stone bridge, natural, I think sturdier of the two."
"I hope you fall in!" harsher voice comes at the end overlapping with his normal voice
"Careful not to fall in."
