Just.....just go play the sport. I doubt there's a single one of us on this board, me included, that couldn't use the exercise.
But doesn't that goes against the very principle of being a gamer geek?

I mean, I might as well be a jock that can date cheerleaders. :p

This raises an intriguing philosophical question:

Is it more sad for a bunch of guys to sit around a table and roll dice and pretend they are killing dragons, or or a bunch of guys to sit around a table and roll dice and pretend they are playing baseball?

I mean, why not a romance d20 minigame? Hit points become heart points...get to -10, and you shall truly never love again.

[Hijinx is fine...it's not really about pretending to be a band, it's about pretending to be a tongue-in-cheek homage to an extremely stylized version of rock bands seen only on cartoons.]

Ponder this...what about those Swordfighter's Guild/SCA guys? They're outside, they're exercising...they're hitting each other with PVC pipe swords. We're discussing turning a sport into an RPG...these guys have turned D&D into a sport.

It's not d20, but Fast Forward Entertainment has sports dice games called Inning a Minute Baseball, Touchdown a Minute Football, and Goal a Minute Soccer. I've been looking for the baseball one, but I haven't been able to find it.

I'd still love to see d20 rules for various sports, especially baseball and basketball. I've always wondered if Miskatonic University would make it to the Final Four!

From the Arkham Observer:

After MU's upset victory over Syracuse University, Dr. Henry Armitage was quoted as saying, "WE GOIN' TO THE DANCE!"

:D

The last time I played football (flag football), was in college, and I ended up in the hospital. (So did a couple other players).

So I can see the appeal of a football RPG.

Still, the trouble is, it would be too complicated. I mean, football is essentially an 11 on 11 combat.

MU would be a Big East school I assume. :)

Interesting idea. It'd be even more interesting if they added special stunts, as inspired by the movie Shaolin Soccer...

Oooooh...now THIS could be promising...can we get cheesy and hilarious CG effects like Action Points to spend? :D

One way to promote this is combining d20 with mainstream fantasy football. Of course, I have no idea what are the rules for fantasy football that get all the jocks all hop up on it. :D
