Well, and I presume them giving WotC a cut for distribution. This being business and all.
Sure, but if WotC does the work and hosts the material, that cut is basically free money to the publisher. No costs, all profit.

A fascinating idea. I imagine it would require more coding with all the variations on classes, but it might sell very well...
The ToV Monster Vault would be easier to code, but it would still be, effectively, a direct shot across the bow of the Monster Manual.
