Dyskami Publishing Company Partners with Skybound Entertainment on Heart Attack Role-Playing Game
GUELPH, ONTARIO (26 FEBRUARY, 2025) — Dyskami Publishing Company announced today that it has secured a licensing deal with Skybound Entertainment to design and distribute a tabletop role-playing game based on Heart Attack, the acclaimed comic book series from writer/creator Shawn Kittelsen and artist/creator Eric Zawadzki. Heart Attack explores a near-future post-pandemic world where gene therapy has saved Americans from disease, only to give birth to Variants: people with powers so unique the government denies their human rights.
“The themes and topics explored in the Heart Attack comic makes for a powerful and poignant RPG game setting,” said Dyskami Publishing Company President Mark MacKinnon. “Variants take a stance against an oppressive authoritarian regime – fighting the power with powers. I am thrilled that we have an opportunity to add Heart Attack and its perfect blend of action, drama, and unexpected consequences to our game offerings.”
In addition to publishing the original graphic novel, Skybound Entertainment is producing an eight-episode Japanese-language Heart Attack live-action drama series in collaboration with Fuji TV. Heart Attack will debut in March 2025 on Fuji TV on Demand (FOD) in Japan. Cineflix will distribute the series internationally.
The Heart Attack Role-Playing Game will be a dual-stat release, featuring both Dyskami’s popular and modular superpowered Tri-Stat System game engine as well as the influential Powered by the Apocalypse game mechanics framework. The Heart Attack RPG will debut on Kickstarter in April 2025, offering early access to a core rulebook, a game screen, and other accessories prior to their late-2025 release.
