DYSKAMI PUBLISHING COMPANY ACQUIRES BIG EYES, SMALL MOUTH AND TRI-STAT SYSTEM ROLE-PLAYING GAME RIGHTS
GUELPH, ONTARIO (11 JANUARY, 2024) — Dyskami Publishing Company announced today that it has acquired from Paradox Interactive AB all rights and trademarks to the entire Tri-Stat System catalogue of games, including the longtime hit anime and manga role-playing game, Big Eyes, Small Mouth (or BESM). The agreement also transfers the Absolute Power/Silver Age Sentinels superhero role-playing game and Tri-Stat Core universal RPG system.
“Although we have been actively publishing BESM Fourth Edition products since 2020 under license, we are thrilled to bring the entire range of Tri-Stat System games into the Dyskami catalogue as our own brand,” said Dyskami Publishing Company President, Mark MacKinnon. “Reclaiming the Big Eyes, Small Mouth line – my earliest role-playing game publication, with its first edition released in 1997 – has been a decade-long journey involving multiple companies. With the property transfer now complete, Dyskami looks forward to expanding BESM and other Tri-Stat System game offerings for many years to come.”
To celebrate the acquisition, Dyskami also announced the forthcoming publication of a new throwback “Retro” Second Edition of the BESM role-playing game. The two-time Origins Award-nominated BESM Second Edition, which debuted in 2000 and went out of print in 2004, will be expanded with updated content, new character creation options, and a fresh presentation. The BESM Retro Second Edition crowdfunding campaign launches January 30th, 2024 on Kickstarter, partnered with the epic fantasy anime world expansion, Ikaris, for BESM Fourth Edition and second LitRPG novel, Ikarion Quest, in the Ikarion isekai trilogy. The BESM Retro Second Edition core rule book will be released through retailers in summer 2024.
