D&D (2024) EN5ider Magazine Issue #2 Introduces The All-New Protomancer D&D Class!

EN5ider Magazine Issue #2 is following up strong from last month's launch with an extra-large issue for a brand new class — along with 4 subclasses, new magic items, and an adventure for 6th level characters!

  • Become a Protomancer. Identify and manipulate the patterns of reality around you to cast bespoke spells, turning the attacks and remarkable abilities of your foes into the very magic that you wield!
  • Dip your toes into the arts of protomancy with the Blue Mage wizard archetype, Circle of the Primordial druid archetype, and Fractal Bloodline sorcerer archetype.
  • Gift a sliver of the power of this new magic upon adventurers with 7 blue magic items.
  • Stop a breakout of monsters at the Protomancy Academy in the Night at the Menagerie mini-adventure (for 4–5 PCs of 6th level) by subduing the valuable creatures wreaking havoc, maybe getting some enchanted gear in the bargain.

The all-new EN5ider Magazine is available as a PDF, or you can have the print version mailed directly to your door every month!

I have to tell you all that I am humbled and impressed by what Michael McCarthy and Andrew Engelbrite did here, and I have already sent the PDF to some colleagues in the industry because god damn did they really do something special. They deserve more recognition for it than just the credits in the front. I wish this thing could get submitted to the ENnies. 🫨

sweet idea, looks well done, but uh...the proficiency bonus column is wrong.
Oof! Added to the errata, thank you. 🙏

The protomancer looks amazing! Do you think it would need anything to fit in well with Level Up?
This is what I was wondering. Is it going to have the information needed to use it with Level up? If not I would love to see suggestions on how to make it so.
Because of how the design space works (access to the SRD but not all of the monsters in the ruleset) everything needed to be broken down into components that GMs can use to figure out the patterns in a repetition (monster attack or trait) that we couldn't print in the Big List™. So yes. Absolutely Narrators can run a protomancer in their Level Up game, and for the most part will be able to draw directly from the Big List™ though when they can't the tools are there to figure things out.

I'd also probably bestow the same social and exploration features that a wizard gets for a protomancer in a Level Up game. Or maybe handpick a list from that and sorcerer? Just give em something for the other two pillars.

That was my thought as well. Thanks!
