DCC Goodman Losing Lankhmar License

Dungeon Crawl Classics
Also, not having a new edition makes no sense financially. A second edition of DCC would give that system some desperately needed buzz. It's so old that it's based on third edition! I can't believe there aren't any tweaks they want to make.
They made a lot of sweeping statements about never invalidating existing books, so they will have to tread very carefully with a new edition with some fans.

But I agree, it's implausible that they don't have at least tweaks they want to make throughout the system.

Speaking as a player who owns the DCC rulebook (and a dozen or so adventures) I would rather see them publish a new edition and increase interest in the game than worry about "invalidating" my stuff. Right now DCC feels like a game very much in decline. My local DCC Meetup.com group used to be pretty active, but a year ago it disbanded completely. It's no use protecting the value of my $30 rulebook when the playerbase is dwindling. A second edition could put a fresh coat of paint that I think they need to compete with Daggerheart, Draw Steel, etc.

Yeah, they've definitely lost mindshare over the past few years.

It’s mostly an own goal with the Judges Guild stuff and the rest is out of their hands like the ascension of Shadowdark.

I also don't think you can just keep doing the same thing forever and expect the audience to stay as excited about your product as when it was new and shiny, as @Nightfly said.

Look at all the big publishers who emerged from the 3E and 4E eras -- very few of them are a big deal today, even as the RPG space has grown and WotC alternatives got big shots in the arm from the OGL crisis.

And yes, the CISO fiasco, which to my knowledge, Goodman still insists was no big deal, definitely turned away a lot of former and would-be customers.
