D&D 5E (2024) Ed Greenwood to Publish 4 New Forgotten Realms Sourcebooks in 2026

Each sourcebook focuses on fleshing out the Dalelands region.
Forgotten Realms creator Ed Greenwood announced on a public Patreon post that he would be writing four new Forgotten Realms guidebooks in 2026. There's also an official site for it over on MythMakers. All four books will all be published on the Dungeon Master's Guild.

Each sourcebook focuses on fleshing out the Dalelands region, with planned releases in quarterly installments. They are...
  • Guide to the Dalelands: A regional sourcebook for both DMs and players.
  • Inn Sites of the Dalelands: Geared towards social encounters, it covers not just inns but also NPCs, mini-games, and social occasions such as festivals and tournaments.
  • Delves of the Dalelands: a collection of dangerous locations to serve as fodder for adventurers.
  • Adventures in the Dalelands: An anthology of adventures for levels 1 to 12.

Polygon recently had an interview with Ed Greenwood about the project.
In it, Greenwood talks about how the series seeks to examine the Dalelands via a "personal eye view" rather than the big-picture perspective common to other Forgotten Realms books.

The RealmsBound project consists of a quartet of books published throughout 2026, all focusing on the Dalelands, one of the oldest core Forgotten Realms regions that Greenwood created. "You're going to be standing on a hill in the Dales with somebody who is a guide, who knows the area," he said. "You're going to be looking over their shoulder as they point at that distant mountaintop, that spire, that forest over there. You're going to be down at that level."

Other regions beyond the Dalelands are in store once the former books are published. The idea is to release four books a year covering particular regions.

Over time, the project will explore beyond the Dalelands as well: "Four books a year," Ed said, "with each quartet focused on a different area." Each annual publishing slate includes a Regional Guide, which is an overview; an Inn Sites book focused on social encounters; a Dungeon Delves book; and an Adventures book, which has everything from short encounters to a campaign. The next area after the Dales has not been decided yet.

We also get a sample map of a settlement, as well as the Dalelands as a whole:

The Realmsbound site also got a fancy new illustrated header, of a blonde elf with a bow in front of standing stones as a herd of deer and birds gallop off to the left.

I'm not a FR guy, but these sound pretty awesome.
