D&D 5E (2024) Ed Greenwood to Publish 4 New Forgotten Realms Sourcebooks in 2026

Each sourcebook focuses on fleshing out the Dalelands region.
Forgotten Realms creator Ed Greenwood announced on a public Patreon post that he would be writing four new Forgotten Realms guidebooks in 2026. There's also an official site for it over on MythMakers. All four books will all be published on the Dungeon Master's Guild.

Each sourcebook focuses on fleshing out the Dalelands region, with planned releases in quarterly installments. They are...
  • Guide to the Dalelands: A regional sourcebook for both DMs and players.
  • Inn Sites of the Dalelands: Geared towards social encounters, it covers not just inns but also NPCs, mini-games, and social occasions such as festivals and tournaments.
  • Delves of the Dalelands: a collection of dangerous locations to serve as fodder for adventurers.
  • Adventures in the Dalelands: An anthology of adventures for levels 1 to 12.

Much more than any specific adventure from Ed Greenwood (which I admit I would have very little confidence in from prior experiences), I would be very interested in a book or mini-book about what he sees as the role of PCs at different levels in his world. Maybe with examples of things PCs might get up to, with less detail than full adventures.

So I expect it will probably be something like the DM's Guild products Thay Land of the Red Wizards or Darkhold Secrets of the Zhentarim.
I own both of these and I highly recommend them! Fantastic material in both.
Can't be any worse than what WOTC is churning out right now.
Sadly true. I’m slowly making my way through Adventures in Faerûn and I’m astounded at the very poor quality of the pre-written snippets. This is doubly surprising because WotC has delivered much better material in very similar format in earlier 5e products.

Anyhow, I look forward to whatever Ed writes. Besides the previously released good material, Ed is very kind and helpful whenever he interacts with fans; I’m happy to support him via DMs Guild material. I have no personal attachment to the Dalelands, but maybe this is a good place to start.
