I the early 2000s I worked in the engineering department of General Mills and my boss offered to let me take the large plotter they were throwing away because they were getting a replacement. I decided not to take it because it would cost probably $500, on the low side, to replace the ink and a roll of paper. Would have been nice to have but most likely impractical and cost prohibitive and would have just collected dust afterwhile. I worked at other places over the years and was able to plot out large maps or scan the ones I owned and make copies. Interesting how technology has advanced since then.
Well, I have to say that I also benefited from the fact that my dad still had a large supply of ink but wasn't print much or often. So I never had to pay for even ink. I even got a number of free blueprint tubes to store all the maps I printed. I'm downsizing and moving and it was hard to recycle these, but I'm never going to use them again.

Have any of you tried cloth map printing services (e.g. Custom Game Cloth Map RPG Printing Service - Geekify Inc How does the price compare to printing to color on paper and laminating? I'm guessing at the larger sizes, if your local FedEx, etc. won't laminate, cloth maps may be a nice alternative. Especially for something you are going to hang on a wall or use a lot on the table. I've bought felt terrain maps in the past and they are more durable than paper are easy to store and easily lay flat as long as you store them in a way to avoid creases (e.g. roll them up instead of fold them up).

Keep them. Someone once told "me life is long and you never know". Those words were so true. So much as you think you may not need or use them again, you'd be surprised. There have been many times I've sold things, given them away and regretted it.

Last time I checked at FedEx or Office Max/Depot, now don't quote me, but I believe they didn't have the ability to print or laminate anything over an 11 x 17 size sheet, if even that anymore. Think I may have been enquiring about getting the 5E Midnight map by EDGE Studios scanned, printed and laminated a few years back at Office Max/Depot and they couldn't do it because the map was too big. FedEx wanted a lean on my house. Seems like whenever I go to either place in the last 10 years, I always get a different answer or price, so I don't bother. I care about my maps. I can only imagine watching as my only map of the Astromundi Cluster is mangled by some inept worker. Can't say I'd blame them though, they don't pay me enough to care about this dorks map.

Not to be like a rogue and turn the body over and check it for treasure :) did you seek them or going to sell them before the move or already gotten rid of them in some way?

I bought it and it's amazing! It's one of the most detailed maps of Faerun and it cuts almost exactly where the 1e and 2e maps used to cut, which was one of my criticisms of the previous 5e map. The version without legends that come in the pack is a blessing since I can pinpoint only the places I want my players to see and hide places like "Secret entrance to Gautlgrym" (it's supposed to be secret!).

It also does a good work conciliating divergences on previous maps. Again using the "secret entrance" thing as an example, 1e or 2e marked Gautlgrym at the Crags, while 4e and 5e14 marked it near Hotenow. The new map conciliated it cleverly saying it's indeed at Hotenow (since Gautlgrym was rediscovered near 4e) and the supposedly location from previous editions when it was still lost is actually secret a passage to it.

I have a question about the digital product. I place it in my cart and it shows that the image has dimensions of 1818 x 1296 pixels. There's no way that's enough pixels for the density of labels on this map. So for anybody who has purchased it, what are you actually getting? A literally unusable digital image? Or an image that is fit for purpose because it is larger than advertised?

that is the preview size, as are the 1.7MB. What you actually get is
Ok, so it comes in three versions, no landmarks, landmarks and roads but no text, and including text. It also comes in three sizes, 48000 x 34200 which really only makes sense if you want to print it, 21600 x 15390, and 5184 x 3694 for VTT use

The below is from the medium resolution
that post also has a small part of the map included, so you can see it
