Not until 6E at a minimum, but I doubt it'll happen even then. At that point, most D&D players (by virtue of how many people started with 5E versus all other editions combined) will have the 5E canon as their true take on things.

Thats tragic actually, its such a pale shadow of what came before.

Will be the first Ravenloft book I will not buy given the VRGtR treatment. No interest in seeing things devolve further. Probably will pick up the new Tarokka deck when it comes out.

The same could be said of Nancy Drew, that doesn’t mean she would be a good choice to include in the book.
Nancy Drew is the unknowing and unwitting darklord of a domain, solving mysteries without end, with each mystery "solved" her world gets darker, more people die . . . and then her rivals, the Hardy brothers, return to torment her further . . . I see it somewhat like the movie "Pleasantville".

Bit different, though, considering the massive influence of Lovecraft on the history of D&D. The art we have seen suggests it isn't an isolated, random Cthulu, but rather a lot of elements of the Mythos being put in the game...as they were in the 70s & 80s when TSR was plaulyong fast and loose.
Right, but I don’t want the Cthulhu Mythos to cross over with Ravenloft. I think both are better as their own things. We’ve established this already.
