Don't be fooled by the "high magic" tag, it's just a marketing ploy, there won't be any high magic module or system, "high" here just means that most of of the book is about magic, but it is the same kind as always.
Did somebody say "high magic?"

It's funny that the mocking of compatibility is part of why they have to re-release things.
they do not have to rerelease things because of incompatibility but because many players switched to 5.5 wholesale and left 5.0 behind.

It is also more convenient for the players to not have to make any adjustments to old material in order to use it.

And finally, releasing new stuff generates new sales, so there is always that incentive to revisit things

Maybe. They also did the Arcane Subclasses UA. That had 8 subclasses, but some maybe didn’t make it (like Tattoo Monk).
This is my thought. Arcane and Mystic are synonyms. Whilst some of the subclasses were clearly needed, such as the specialist wizards missing from the PHB, some of the others were probably just a case of throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks. So Mystic Arts monk may well be a straight up replacement for the terrible tattoo monk, and there are probably a bunch of other subclasses from those UAs that don't make the cut.

Compatibility was only ever promised for the existing adventure library.
That's not true.

Watch the video there. Crawford very clearly says that rules in 5e books(PHB, DMG, Xanathar's, etc.) that do not appear in the 5.5e books can still be used when playing 5.5e. That's compatibility of rules, not just adventures.

That matches the "What's New in the 2024 version?" sidebars in the 5.5e DMG and PHB.
