SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY - Official Trailer | Exclusively In Cinemas 31 July

Looks like theyre already setting it up anyway - Scorpion, Boomerang, Tarantula and Tombstone?.
Banner, Punisher and the Hand. Plus Sadie Sinks 'unknown psychic'
Yeah, it has me pretty worried, honestly.

Tom Holland is extremely charismatic, the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man concept is extremely strong, and Spider-Man 2 -- which features one villain -- remains one of the best superhero movies ever.

Disney should just trust that the audience wants to hang out with Spidey and doesn't need a new shiny object on the screen every 30 seconds to keep their attention. This isn't a live action Sony film, after all.

Yeah. You would think order number 1 would be to go around to the old avengers and be like "hey guys, I am spiderman, you all forgot me because of a magic spell from Dr Strange....blah blah blah". Reconnect with the gang.
I thought there was going to be a consequence if he did that and that the memory wipe was basically a one-way door.

I didn't get the impression Punisher was hunting down Spidey. Rather he and Peter seemed to be after the same people and he just wanted Peter out of the way.
That used to be a fairly common occurrence back in the day: Spider-Man and the Punisher were after the same criminals, so Spider-Man had to both keep the Punisher from getting to them first and murdering them, and catch the criminals.
I like what I am seeing, and I really like that Michael Mando is finally getting the chance to show off the promise of his Mac Gargin. The fact that Banner is in this and they cut off him asking about Peter's name makes me think that somewhere inside The Hulk remembers what everyone else does not. Though of course they could just be teasing us. But as for Peter living across the hall from MJ and Ned, I kind of think they are angling him to kinda also be the Ursula Ditkovich of this universe.
There's a post-Brand New Day comic I sometimes see posted online where Spider-Man and the Hulk are interacting and the Hulk calls him "Peter". Peter is understandably surprised, to which the Hulk replies "Banner forgot. I didn't."
I don't know if that's where they are going with this.

I am reminded of Straczinski's run on Amazing Spider-Man in the early 2000s, and the "The Other" storyline, in which Peter undergoes changes and a sort of rebirth, coming out with some enhanced powers (which later authors then promptly ignored).
I think those changes got rolled back with Brand New Day. The organic web-shooters definitely did.

I think part of it is creative greed. They know they're only getting so many Spider-Man movies, and there's like 70 years of comics to mine for villains and plot lines, and they want to squeeze as much of it as they can into each movie.

Reconnect with the gang. He doesn't know all of the new people going around but he definately knows several of them (Hulk, Falcon, Ant Man, Dr Strange).

But likely the highlight will be, Peter is incredibly depressed. He lost his aunt, basically lost all of his friends. He's likely become incredibly withdrawn.
Yeah, he's probably over-correcting, from "people who know I'm Spider-man might get hurt, so..." to "I asked for no one to know I'm Spider-man" to "I will be lonely forever and not even tell people who can protect themselves."

More like he didn't stop to carefully think over what he wanted to wish for. By the time he realized the implications, it was a little too late for Dr. Strange to tweak the spell.

Well, we know he blames himself for the sequence of events in the previous two films which was basically:

1) Peter tries to deal with responsibilities left to him by Tony and in doing so trusts Mysterio too much, so Beck leaks Peter’s identity to the world when he dies;

2) Peter can’t deal with the public and private consequences of this and somehow persuades Dr Strange to cast a poorly conceived spell to make everyone forget his identity;

3) The spell instead causes Spideys and their villains from alternate realities to appear;

4) The Green Goblin kills Aunt May;

5) The only way to prevent the end of reality is to fully cast the spell and make everyone forget, including MJ and Ned.

So Peter identifies the root cause of his problems as his own carelessness and impulsiveness, and that’s unfair but not entirely wrong. He thinks that trying to fix his problems with simple plans is the problem. He’s concerned that if he tells anyone his identity it might reopen the spell, and he thinks he deserves his self-inflicted misery.

I really hope this film does something to cheer him up and restore his reasons for living. Also, he really needs to deal with his chronic persistent need for adult mentors. At least none of them in the trailer have a goatee so far.

Well, remember, in the MCU, he didn't get ,"With great power comes great responsibility," until his Aunt dies. That part of his origin wasn't skipped, it was delayed. He's only now really grasping the depth of what consequences can be for a superhero.

I think we assumed that the bit with Uncle Ben happened off screen before his introduction in Civil War, but I guess we didn’t dodge it entirely and this Peter therefore has a double dose.

Jimmy Kimmel: So, you're not in the movie?
Charlie Cox (smiling) No.
Kimmel: You say no? Okay.
Cox: If I was in the movie, I would also also say no, to be clear.
Kimmel: So you might be lying right now.
Cox: Yes. But I'm not in the movie. I could be lying, but I'm not.

Given that it's Mysterio, dies should always be in quotes.
