Not sure how someone could be described as a 'hater' if that person never saw the show. Sounds like Hulu is cutting expenses and cancelling a reboot with several known stars is a quick way to cut future expenses. Making a new show with cheap unknown talent seems the fad these days. Its also one of the reasons shows get cancelled after 2 or 3 seasons. The original contracts are expiring and the actors are asking for more money. Cheaper to cancel the show and make a new one with another batch of unknown actors.

I've heard that there are leaks of an early draft floating around; the complaints seem to focus on Buffy herself only making a single brief appearance at the end of the pilot.

This is the early draft.
there is allegedly newer out there, but didn't find it. Yet.

And from what I can tell, all information from people who've seen it or where there says most of the issues people had with the early draft were fixed before shooting.

Not that it should matter. They reshot all of the original Buffy pilot complete with cast changes before broadcast and that version didn't have an inbuilt audience.
