Hasbro CEO Cocks and Execs Sued for Alleged Securities Violations

See, that's the kind of thing I dislike. I mean, I'm happy you got a honeymoon off a Black Lotus, but to me speculative trading is inherently a bad thing and particularly so with things that are supposed to be for fun. I would love if Wizards switched over to an LCG model with Magic instead – that would make for a much more accessible game. They could still do collector boosters with fancy versions of cards for those who like that kind of thing, but speculative trading is inherently parasitic.

It's really the same thing as when people oppose new housing being built because they fear it will drive down the market price of their house (well, except for housing being a necessity and games being a luxury). That's the whole point.

Its wildly wildly different from housing.

Magic IS accessible. You used to be able to buy a standard deck for $40 bucks. Or premade commander decks, whatever.

At the end of the day, they are already tanking the secondary market, its not improving anything by doing so.

what's funny is that at this point it's inertia and whatever legal hoops they did that keeps the RL in place. Roughly 90% (give or take) of the players and stores including the big names like starcity games oppose the continuing existence of the reserved list.

Like or dislike as you will - the empirical evidence is that it is a good way to sell large numbers of little pieces of paper for decades.
I'm sure it is. Selling lottery tickets is usually a good way of making money, moreso when you can outsource the payouts to the customers themselves.
