So I tend to mine and recycle content. I've got so much of it i never used it back in the day.

This Dungeon originally housed the Shadow Engine. It was a Netherese mythallar.

I'm repurposing it as a remnant of Anauria a Netherese survivor state. Under Amazandar the City of Gems theres a temple to Jergal.

Ruins of Amazandar are on page 53 Heroes of Faerun. Theres really not much lore on them almost untouched since 2E and Shade:Empire of Anauroch.

The dungeon is reasonably basic. Im going to fill it with some stinker DM specials, wild magic zones, dead magic zones or remnants of the Shadow Weave. Maybe Phaerimm.

Any ideas? Level 7 RAW encounters from the DMG (page 115 ). I can tweak monsters though.

I had a group of 11th level PCs run into a bunch of mummies which was not a great threat by themselves, but when it was 12 or more, then it was a problem. I recall that there was also a dragon in the encounter the PCs were busy with.

I also like places where oozes get into a dungeon and occupy a section. Telegraph the danger with signs of acid marks and eaten away bones and wood. Dark areas underground where the PCs might not a good light source provides places where an ooze can drop from the ceiling.

I was thinking Wraith variants. Swordwraitgs. Basically a wraith two attacks CR4.

Ties into Anauril City of Swords. Another lost kingdom city.

Each ruin is a level, Shade at 10 or 11.

I wonder if there is a location to place a puzzle. The wraiths might keep respawning back in the temple area and can never be killed until something is done. Maybe a relic found on a long dead thief in another part of the dungeon can be returned.

Yeah I want a puzzle of some kind.

I'm thinking 7 crystals to unlock Jergals inner sanctum.

Pit them in the right slots they glow. Wrong slot 1d8 damage+ d8 for each crystal in right place. Trial and error to place them.

Maybe a lost tome giving hints to the right placement. This can be something they found in a earlier adventure or on part of a map they find. You can also foreshadow with having one crystal in a slot with a dead adventurer lying next to it with a burned-off hand. Might be a place to place a riddle if the players like that to help with the order. The obvious thing would be a rainbow if it has 7.

Rai bow works each colour would be linked to fire, radiance etc.
