If you haven't played with Unlimited titles, it's a fun little utility. Sure, it's billed as a little program to generate book titles, which it does well -- nice for generating a library or books of lore that might be found as treasure.

The secret use that I like it for is as an idea generator. Roll a couple of intriguing titles, convert them into plot hooks, and you can make some pretty unpredictable adventures. Frankly, I'm surprised CMG hasn't been running a little "Iron DM" game right here on the boards by generating some titles and having people come up with adventure ideas. Just load it into your browser and click, click, click!

Looks like the third update adds a lot of data -- I've been cycling through a number of times and haven't gotten any repeats. I can't think of a gaming product you'd buy recently that actually gives you the updates for free!

Thumbs up, CMG!

i tried to get to him to make a pottery generator, but you know how mark is...

best graphics yet mark, nice job all around. :)

I love the Lexus titles. I prefer urban campaign settings, and my parties won't use their weapons without first consulting a library. Since I started using Lexus, my library shelves are a whole lot less bare. In addition, Rudolfo (the librarian) always has a good book when the party shows up.

Not only can you generate plot hooks, and random book titles but some of these are just too damn funny. For example:

Hour of the Randy Handyman

I couldnt stop laughing while I was trying to generate a plot hook,
I finally came up with this.

In the noble house of Kent, a Duke nervously awaits the arrival of three young nobles from the surrounding kingdoms to wed his three young daughters. Unfortunatley a local handyman who has been helping with repairs of his estates has run off with all three.
The nobles are due within the hour, and the daughters were discovered missing just this morning. None of the Duke horses are missing, so they cant have gotten off of the estates.
Can the players find the young daughters and return them to the Duke before the arrival of the young nobles?

Once again another fine product by Creative mountain games!

Heh heh heh :p

Every now and again you get one that will just crack you up completely! It is amazing the flood of ideas you will get with each click of the generator... :)

Heh, he said tool....

It's a very clever little program that helps to fill out some details that many DMs tend to forget. How many times have you walked into an evil wizard's library and asked the DM what books were there.

I mean, if you found the Hour of the Randy Handyman, it might change the outlook on the whole adventure!

Cool little program, indeed. Here are some of the books it generated for me:

Integrity of the Hand Crossbow
Portfolio of Wiratha
The Partial Camel
The Villain's Pamphlet
Of Cap & Breeches

If you already owned one of the previous volumes, you get this one free. But even if you didn't own the earlier ones, both of them come with this download. That makes three programs for the price of one! Darn good value, I say.

This will definately earn a place on my DM's Laptop. I've always had a heck of a time coming up with book titles off the top of my head, but that's no longer an issue.

I really wish I could say something bad about CMG products for once... not really... but for the love of Pete, I sound like a gushing schoolgirl over everything that Mark puts out.

Well I suppose it's for a reason: all of it IS quite good. Wizard libraries, adventure ideas, minutes spent holding sides whilst laughing about the possibilities that some titles provide...

"The Swollen Birch" "Pallid Tanner" and "The Weaponmaker's Zesty Foodstuff" all await you for a paltry sum: you're definately getting your money's worth! :)

I'm in love with my PocketPC, so with a lot of RPG-related things, I see how well they work on my Dell Axim. The title generator, something that could be rather useful at the table, as well as in game prep, is easily viewable on a pocket-sized screen. You don't quite get the full effect of the generator, since the pretty book bindings aren't viewable, but you still get the titles. This is even more reason, for me at least, to use this and love it!
