    D&D General DALL·E 3 does amazing D&D art

In my head I'm calling these neon pirates. For some reason I'm getting a surprising amount of punch daggers.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

<Deadly Pirate Game> has nothing on Pirate Borg. That game is the best. Hmm. Rum.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

A lot of people also can't handle even the possibility of an implied criticism of a game they like. So even comparing it without criticizing is seen as a line too far by a lot of people. "It's like D&D only deadlier and with pirates." "D&D has pirates and can be deadly! How dare you!"

D&D 5E I feel like the surveys gaslit WotC about """"Backwards Compatibility""""

Yes. Preventing more players and referees from freaking out. A lot of them still freaked out about the new edition, but a lot more would have, too. It was always a marketing tool. To ease fears that it was 3X all over again. Turns out it was 3X all over again.

    D&D General D&D memes thread discussion…

It would be great if lawful weren’t always presented as dumb. I don’t really see the distinction between chaotic good and chaotic neutral. They’re not mutually exclusive and are both true simultaneously. And it’s not just my fun the rules get in the way of. It’s the players’ fun, too.

Dungeons & Dragons SRD 5.2 Is Officially Live

Yeah. And all you have to do to really drive the point home is look at the transition to 4E and the emergence of Pathfinder. All the networking benefits WotC drew from having the OGL were displaced to another company because WotC shot themselves in the foot by abandoning an open license. So all...

    Good Television Mystery Series

True Detective, season 1 is fantastic and brutally dark. Broadchurch, UK version with Coleman, Whittaker, and Tennant. Presumed Innocent. How to Get Away with Murder. Castle, for a bit more comedy, it has a few real mystery writers show up later on. Bodies, for some sci-fi mystery. Fargo...

Dungeons & Dragons SRD 5.2 Is Officially Live

Yes, 20+ years later he says that. At the time it was purely a business move and he repeatedly said so and said it’s how he convinced management to go along.

Dungeons & Dragons SRD 5.2 Is Officially Live

Exactly. The CC SRDs exist to make WotC money same as the OGL SRDs before them. The more widely the systems are used the more people are pointed back to WotC products. This is literally why the OGL was created. It was never an act of largess, it was always commercial. D&D has been so dominant...

D&D (2024) WotC Announces April 22 Release For 2024 System Reference Documents

I don’t run campaigns like that. I run open-world sandboxes. Where the players are free to go and do whatever. Introducing the Deck wouldn’t ruin anything because the players making choices is the point. There’s nothing for them to wreck by drawing a card. The game isn’t about my prep, it’s...

D&D (2024) WotC Announces April 22 Release For 2024 System Reference Documents

But it's not though. It's a high chaos item, sure. But that only destroys campaigns that have a predetermined plot that needs protecting from chaos. The Deck is the single most fun and interesting item ever created for D&D. You were in a faux-medieval setting and suddenly you're surfing a wave...
