Industry standard is three or four cents per word for average writers. I took two cents a word for my current bit o' freelancing, but that's cos I want to get a foot in the door of the company, and am therefore willing to compromise (plus, it's my first big d20 project).

The penalty for breaking the injunction is having your fellow wizards show up and blast you, I think. Or at least snub you. edit: Wait, Sep specified it in an earlier post. It's Imprisonment. Gah - there's so much I want to ask, like what's Nwm (and Nwm's player) doing during all this? And...

Check out Mary Gentle's "The Book of Ash" - it's about a mercenary company in a fantasy variant of Europe, and has some quite good ideas despite being a bit overlong.
