I've wanted to do this for awhile now... I'd also be interested in hearing stories on how successful groups have been doing this. And how close to the beginning have you started??? A prehistoric campaign sounds really interesting but there seems to be some hurdles to leap.

As a player I was planning on using one of the 3.5 core classes but that campaign was cancelled/delayed... As a DM, I've used a couple and in my current campaign I'm making a point to use even more... especially PrCs... After all, I did spend the $$$ for the magazines... I should get some use...

If I could play devil's advocate for your cleric... Maybe you could take a non-combat feat... Alas, I don't have a specific suggestion but I've always wished players took more chances on their feats and picked something that gives flavor over a way to do more damage or cast more powerful...
