A new dungeon map every day (throughout May)

Thanks again for sharing this great work! I am eagerly (and sadly!) awaiting the final map tomorrow! :)

A new dungeon map every day (throughout May)

That would be fine with me! ;) Heck, I'd even buy a pdf of the entire map set, once you're done with all 31 maps. Nice work on the maps; I'm really enjoying them. Thanks for sharing. Are you going to do more 'composite' maps where you put several together (like you did for maps 01-06 last...

    In Remembrance---2009

Jack Cardiff, award-winnning cinematographer (Black Narcissus, The Red Shoes) and director (Sons and Lovers, War and Peace, and Scent of a Mystery which was filmed in "Smell-O-Vision") died at his home in England. He was 94.

Campaign Wikis are A lot of Work!

Work backwards: Add the latest information first. Eventually, you will get it all done or the stuff you don't get to will be so old that it's not needed. And the current information will all be there.

What are you reading? April 2009

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Never could make it through the original. I'm hoping that adding zombies will incentivize me enough to finish it.

Dungeon A Day to extend charter member enrollment period

He said that he had many comments from people who wouldn't get paid by the 31st, etc., so extending the deadline just seemed like the logical thing to do. It's a pretty fun site, and I get to playtest an upcoming section (level 2) this weekend. :)

Dungeon A Day to extend charter member enrollment period

Word on the street is that Monte Cook will extend the deadline for 'charter member' sign-up on Dungeon A Day. Currently, the deadline is March 31 (tomorrow), but due to popular demand he is going to extend the deadline (probably to April 10). Woo-hoo!

"Very well," says Croydon. He disappears and returns a few minutes later. "The taxi is waiting."

Best Version of Call of Cthulhu

In the free downloads section of the afore-mentioned yog-sothoth.com there is a scenario called "Spirits Over Arkham" that is a lot of fun. It starts very "real world-ish" with mythos stuff appearing in the final (third) section, IIRC.

    What's your core?

PHB/DMG/MM Book of Experimental Might I & II Magic Item Compendium Spell Compendium (a bit) I would say that we're playing 3.75, since BOXM really changes things. :)

D&D 3E/3.5 3.5E wizard build for old newbie

Then the Collegiate Wizard feat is your friend: It's from Complete Arcane, but it's actually in the back of the book (p. 181) in a sidebar. The feat is designed for "mages who have trained in a dedicated college or academy" because they have, apparently, learned "different approaches to...

    Monk without being Lawful

Also, if the DM allows it, Improved Natural Attack from the Monster Manual. And have Mighty Wallop (or, even better, Greater Mightly Wallop) available, if possible. Imp. Nat. Attack will increase your damage by one size category, and the Mighty Wallop spells increase it even more (esp. Greater...

Has anyone had experience fighting with/playing as Pixies?

I played a Pixie in a World's Largest Dungeon game. I never used the amnesia arrows, because I was a Warmage and usually had something better to do than shoot arrows.

Dungeons & Dragons Editions: Where Do You Stand?

I voted "Variant" because we are using Monte Cook's Book of Experimental Might (I and II), or something very close, in all three of my home games. I really like it and will continue to use it.

D&D versus social anxiety disorder (updated 8/20/14)

I think note-passing (as Umbran mentioned above) is a great idea. If I was in a similar situation, there are two things I might try: (1) Easy Decisions. Put the PC in a situation where she has to make a choice, but only give two options. Sometimes, too many choices is a bad thing. Make it a...

Red Hand of Doom; my players--stay out!

Thanks for all input! Yep, that's all I'm really doing. The msWord document with the changes is over 100 pages long. (I could make it shorter, but I do repeat entries rather than have to flip back & forth, and I've added some spell descriptions for the bosses at the end just to speed up...

Red Hand of Doom; my players--stay out!

Just in case they're hanging around, my players please stay out! (This means you, Tod, Bob, Jude, and Monte!) I am running The Red Hand of Doom for a group of four players. They've got a well-balanced group, along with a tag-along NPC who's just one level behind them (thanks to a death at...
