D&D 5E Exclusive D&D Next Campaign available at Gen Con Only

I'm not giving them special credit for making a smart business move and selling PDFs of old adventures. Great they did it, but wasn't out of goodness of their heart. What chaps me about the Gencon exclusive sale is.....I'm wondering about my incentive to remain a ddi subscriber .....why...

D&D 5E Exclusive D&D Next Campaign available at Gen Con Only

What chaps me about the Gencon exclusive is sale is.....I'm wondering about my incentive to remain a ddi subscriber .....why nothing special for loyalists. I like 4e and play it, but will almost assuredly move on to D&D Next. I generally like what I see so far and rarely play 4e anymore (have...

    D&D 5E L&L: Exploration and Interaction

Pity that after saying in the second paragraph he was going to cover all three pillars Mearls never covered combat. Though count me in the camp that likes the sound of what he is saying about interaction and exploration....the devils in the details. Hopefully there will be a new packet soon...

D&D 5E What happened to Legend and Lore?

Thanks I was wondering the same thing too....though too bad he didn't ask his web team to post a note regarding this at the L&L article location. Guess he was too busy tweeting ;)

D&D 5E Time to Stop Revising

Actually they haven't been milking the D&D brand much or well. And milking it is hardly going to be satisfying to Hasbro. Even if Next comes out for Christmas 2014 I think they've done well to get Hasbro to sign off on a process that takes that long. WotC almost regularly fires people at...

D&D 5E Time to Stop Revising

I agree with the original poster. While of course I also agree with Jester that I want WotC to get it right the reality is they can only go so long without producing much product for the D&D line. They really are approaching crunch time to playtest rules and quit testing concepts

In what edition and book did the elves'...

Inspiration in fiction is most likely from Lord of the Rings.....years since I read but recall that when Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas were tracking Merry & Pippin....tracking them while undergoing a forced march when Aragorn or Gimli awoke it was always to find Legolas awake keeping watch over them

D&D 5E Anyone going to use D&D Next for the upcoming season of D&D Encounters?

Yes, the store where I run has multiple tables. One DM will run with 4e, but I will be running using D&D Next ruleset.

D&D 5E Is multiple actions per rounds a good idea?

I voted "no" I'm very much from the two many actions slows things down school, however, I'm ok with cleric heals that also getting an attack type spells as this isn't really a slow decision making process for the cleric....speeds them up if anything "oh I can attack and give Ed some...

D&D 5E Do You Like the Reaction?

In a word. Yes. I also like that you are limited to one out of turn reaction total, and their stated philosophy is to limit off turn actions in order to keep the game moving.

    D&D 5E Rogue - Skill Mastery Bonus

We interpreted as "A" and yes combined with the skill mastery 10 minimum was very boring....I'm also happy to hear that version of mastery is on the way out.

    D&D 5E Magic user back?!

Couldn't agree more. The term "magic-user" might be my number one pet peeve in gaming. Hate it.....aren't all characters with magic items "magic-users" :) I'm all in favor of a variety of plug and play optional magic systems but want to see separate classes with their own default. Just give me...

    D&D 5E Future playtest adventures

You could be right, but I hope not....I've been running the Drow storyline running through the last two seasons of the Encounters program...and part 3 of more Drow starts in a couple of weeks. I like the Drow, but I'm more than a bit tired of them at this point. I'm all in favor of sandboxey...

    D&D 5E Future playtest adventures

I believe WoTC has said we'll see other classic adventures used in playtesting D&D Next. The most recent Legends & Lore article on magic items mentions an adventure being released in the next few weeks (and we're in theory due the character levels 1-10 sometime this month too...so we'll need an...

    [Playtest 2] Any Deaths?

No deaths, but lots of fear :] I've run two sessions in the Blingdenstone adventure. A couple of characters have gone into negatives, but were quickly healed by the cleric. Many more have been at low hit points and afraid for their life I agree the monsters "mostly" are a bit toothless, but...

    Playtest Update

No you weren't I was shocked too......I seem to recall them saying every 5 to 6 weeks depending on speed of feedback and content. Perhaps some of the response threw them for a bit of a loop. I would think with the playtest rolling they could have alternatives or tweaks for some of the issues out...

    Some short playtest notes

Yeah players in my group caught on to this possibility too and didn't heal comrade letting him get knocked into negatives, but tide of battle shifted and he couldn't be reached.....failed the con check took the 1d6 damage ....scratch one dwarf fighter! If the monsters coup de grace even a little...

joining you on the eight hour mark of still can't download.....this after a 2 hour wait for the email with the link. Wow, I'm not sure they could've handled this worse if they tried
