D&D 5E Are there any races post-tashas that compare with mountain dwarf for casters?

I don't have the book itself yet but something that caught my ear when I saw a revieuw is that you always move around your racial bonusses, right? So a +2+2 always becomes +2+2 somewhere else and not +2+1+1, right? That would normally be a limiting factor but wasn't there a race in Eberron that...

D&D 5E Are proficiency swaps too strong for some races?

Even if that is how your DM approaches tools the actual use you will get out of tool proffeciencies will be pretty limited and most likely only get you info or advantages you could have gotten in a number of other ways aswell. For extra tool proficiencies to be actually "too strong" there...

D&D 5E Are proficiency swaps too strong for some races?

But that's you making extra room for it. Most officialy published material would call it an investigation check and call it a day. I'm not defending it but it inherritly lowers the value of tools.

D&D 5E Aberrant Mind's Psionic Sorcery is officially the most powerful feature.

Yeah for sure, I would watch that :P. But there is optimising and then there is breaking the game by disregarding basic rules. Watching a Hexblade-Paladin-Sorceror tearing stuff up can be fun. Watching him argue with the DM wether or not his lvl 6 spell slots should break the paladin smite...

D&D 5E Are proficiency swaps too strong for some races?

That's not how most tables play it imo. As I mentioned earlier, even after Xanathar's attempt to make tools useful WotC still had to introduce special feats like Poisoner and Chef to create a system that allows some very minor crafting. Tools by themselfs are useless unless the DM makes a...

D&D 5E What is up with the popularity of watching other D&D groups play the game?

In those shows people don't put emphasis...on every...word...they speak. As if every....sentence...carries the weight...and timbre....of an Obama speech.

D&D 5E Are there any races post-tashas that compare with mountain dwarf for casters?

I'm pretty sure optimising a character is a large part of the fun for many players though.

    D&D 5E Twilight Cleric’s Channel Divinity question

Getting advantage on your first hit isn't that hard, true, getting advantage on hits after that can be pretty tricky. Things like Faerie Fire, Reckless Attack and Wolf Totem work but those are a lot more niche then helping familiars, hiding and the like.

D&D 5E Are there any races post-tashas that compare with mountain dwarf for casters?

Tortle is probably pretty close. It kind of depands on wether you will have to share your medium armor loot with other people in the party.

D&D 5E Are proficiency swaps too strong for some races?

I don't see how tool profficiencies are an issue, 99% of 5E campaigns fully ignore them. They had to make a seperate feat to make poison a thing because the system was so under-developed and underused. And please don't use Dragonborn to drag all the other races down with them. That's uncalled...

    D&D 5E Was the Rune Knight (in Tasha's) "over-nerfed"?

I found it kinda weird, lore-wise, that they put Hill Giant next to Storm Giant as the 2nd tier of abilities. Cloud Giant would have made more sense, traditionaly speaking. The Hill Giant rune effect (resistance to bludgeoning/ piercing and slashing damage for 1 minute) also seems a lot more...

D&D 5E Investment of the Chain Master: Sprite is the new Imp?

All new summon spells require concentration, my dude. I was a bit confused at first with what you ment with "pokemon master" but yeah...walking around with like 5 summoned creatures at the same time would be kind of OP.

D&D 5E Aberrant Mind's Psionic Sorcery is officially the most powerful feature.

You are telling me that WotC doesn't let people cast spells they don't have the equivelant spell slots for? Shocker. No...wait. That's one of the fundamental building blocks of 5E. My bad.

D&D 5E Aberrant Mind's Psionic Sorcery is officially the most powerful feature.

I'm confused. Does this dude think he can cast lvl 8 spells using 8 sorc points? Because I would pay good money to see a player try to make that case to a DM. That would be hillarious.

    D&D 5E Ranger Rating Thread

If those orcs are carrying around torches instead of shields because they are afraid of rangers lurking in shadows which their normal darkvision already covered....then didn't the ability already pay itself off by removing their AC? Your standard orc also carries a greataxe, so in combat that...

    D&D 5E Hard world healer

I'm always a fan of Life Cleric 1 + Shephard Druid 5 for healer build. Although your strongest healing is out of combat with goodberry and healing spirit you can still do solid AoE heals with Unicorn Totem, Temp HP with Bear Totem while still doing great damage with Conjure Animals and Faerie Fire.

D&D 5E It's official, WOTC hates Rangers (Tasha's version of Favored Foe is GARBAGE)

That's sounds pretty spot on and I can easily see that being true. Wether people are coming into the Ranger with an image of Drizzt in their heads or after having played Hunter in Wow, having a pet is quite iconic. Not to mention furry companions always rate high in general, so I'm not suprised...

    D&D 5E Dagger Thrower

Ohh they never did. Pointless/ impossible to do so before this book comes out, unless you had a DM that houserules it :p I was more talking about rogue-builds in general. Gloomstalker and rogue are still awesome together and even more with Tasha's.

D&D 5E Characters using elite warrior drow poison

I know we are kind of picking at semantics here but in officialy published material when an npc has a magical item, a Flametongue Greatsword or potion of invulnerability for example, then it will be specificly mentioned in the description and either say "X will pop potion on 1st round of combat"...

    D&D 5E Dagger Thrower

I look to 5 levels of Gloomstalker for many rogue builds already tbh, even more so if they really want a fighting style. Extra attack, another attack on the 1st round of combat, the spells and pretty-much-invisibility in darkness is just crazy good. Throw Elven Accuracy on top. Ohh my. And...
