    D&D 5E Lore Mastery Wizard

Changing damage types is rarely a huge damage upgrade, even when you know it's relevant. For most casters it just means you need to change to something like Arcane Missles instead of Scorching Ray when fighting a Fire Giant or so. In that case casting a Force Scorching Ray over a lvl 2 arcane...

The OBSCENE POWER OF THE STORM SORCERER! I underated it...

-"Yes the Sorcerer can create higher level spells slots at 7." -"Yes. Booming blade can be upcasted to level 1 and activates Heart of Storm by RAW. " -" (It doesn't reveal yourself) " You say it with such conviction but sorry dude, but that's just not true. -A sorc, at any level, has a...

    Hexblade Question

Short answer: Lucky Long answer: There are quite a few viable options as a melee focussed caster. Here are the one's that spring to mind: Warcaster; Concentrating on spells seems to be less crucial to your game-plan then most casters but it's never a bad idea to consider. Booming blade on AoE...

    D&D 5E Xanathar's Guide errata coming

Here's the basic idea: 1 lvl Hexblade for cha-attacks and hexblade curse. 6 Levels paladin for smites, 2 attacks and ST-aura. Pump the rest into Sorc for many more spell-slots compared to paladin (full caster vs 1/2 caster) plus the ability to turn sorc points into spell slots/ smites, and...

    D&D 5E [5E] Fighter/Rogue multiclass

Assasin subclass for rogue is a bit of a trap, I think, tbh. Not only are suprise rounds very dependant on how generous your GM wants to be it also requires the rest of your party to play along (and not suck at stealth). And looking at the of the rest of your party....they look more like the "So...

Shadow Sorcerer vs Hexblade Warlock vs Grave Cleric

That's relevant for Pact of the Blade warlocks, not for Hexblades with a Tome pact. I also don't think many DM's will give out a fully powered sentient artifact out to their PC's on level one. That weapon is your boss.

Shadow Sorcerer vs Hexblade Warlock vs Grave Cleric

Sounds like the story could lend itself pretty well for a Sorc/ Hexblade warlock build. Step 1; Think up a story for a sentient artifact powerful enough to be a patron that resides within the tomb. Step 2; Think up a sorceror background that connects the artifact with your bloodline I think...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Sorcerer and Warlock

Ok. I prefer facts over stargazing though. https://www.dndbeyond.com/posts/397-what-might-be-next-for-d-d-in-2019 I also think that any smart company would support a big game release like Baldur's Gate 3 and Decend into Avernus with supplemental content for those projects. Not to try to push a...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Sorcerer and Warlock

Of all places...Zendikar? Really? It's Psionics, a Barb where the text refers to the Feywild, and a monk that has mastered the Astral Plane. How does that say imply "Zendikar" to you? But baseless speculation aside, there is also the simple fact that according to WotC's own schedule we are due...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Sorcerer and Warlock

I'm pretty sure this is playtest material for a new player-focussed book like Xanathar's, not a campaign setting or so. Between this and the Barb/ Monk we got last time it seems to me they want to take that book into a more "weird" direction, isntead of the classical fantasy, which would be...

D&D 5E Question regarding warlock expanded spell lists

Hey yall, So I've been playing a warlock for about 4 levels now and always assumed their patron spell list was like druid circle spells or cleric domains (free spell choices you always have prepared), but then a party member pointed out that it merely expands your spell list, not that it...

D&D 5E Ranged Hexblade - Divine Sorcerer (Curse of Strahd Healer Needed)

A Sorlock can be a great back-up healer, even if it's just to throw out a healing word from time to time, in between blasting stuff with Eldritch blast and twin-cast Guiding Bolts. Acces to Spiritual Weapon is great at the relevant levels, plus you can also get Revivify and be a back-up rezzer...

D&D 5E The 14th Level Abjurer Tradition Feature IS Nucking Futs. Right?

Yeah, it's super good, but I think it's worth noting that high level casters can also get advantage vs spells from Robes of the Archmage eventually.

    Awards other than XP

I think there have been plenty of really solid suggestions on alternative rewards, but one thing that popped into my head when I thought about a prolongued campaign at a certain level would be that it could be fun to weave a parallel story into your campaign that revolves around a different...

Improving monk of the four elements

I think it's a cool and appropriate concept but it does nothing to adress (if anything it only worsens) the main issue with WotFE; it's abyssmal recource economy and scaling. You could change it to something along the lines of "1x per long rest you can absorb the effects of an elemental spell to...

    D&D 5E Wizard 18: Spell Mastery

I'd be hard pressed not to go with the cookie-cutter option of Shield and Misty Step, although I have to give a special mention to Shadow Blade for Bladesinger's. Still probably not the most optimal choice, but defiantly points for the cool-factor.

what would you want to see in a revised Weapon Chart?

I'm a big fan of all these changes. Along the same lines I would really like to see more d8-options for Rogues (why can't I sneak attack when I bash someones brains in from behind with a blunt weapon?), to reduce rapier-pigeonholing. If there could be some different classifications on shields...

    God Wiz...er...I mean, Druid?

Yeah...monkeys are awesome. Less so when you are underwater and was hoping to summon a pack of Reef Sharks though. Great way to miss the point ;) !

    God Wiz...er...I mean, Druid?

Obviously. Milage may vary, and I can see a point being made that some DM's might dislike Raptors or so, but I've yet to see a DM say "nope" to a Druid who wants to summon a pack of wolves. Or "Reef sharks...? You are getting monkeys, my friend".

    God Wiz...er...I mean, Druid?

-8 raptors all multi-attack with advantage. Killing stuff quick is solid battlefield control. -8 wolves all attack with advantage on their knock-prone attack. -8 giant poison snakes each have a chance to give enemies the poisoned condiotion -8 constrictor snakes can grapple a whole bunch of...
