    D&D 5E Cavalier Build Help

I've also been working on a potential Cavalier build, though I would definatly take him in a more offensive direction. Auto-advantage vs anything smaller then your mount is jsut to good not to abuse with GWM. So i was thinking the following build-path: Human (Mounted combatant) Level 1-6 Fighter...

    D&D 5E Druid Armor Restrictions

I dunno about that dude...I can think of quite a few builds where a finesse greatsword would be beyond broken. A set of natural plate armor? Not so much.

Character build option Fighter Rogue or fighter rogue Paladin

From what it sounds like you are trying to go for I would do either: Battle Master Fighter 11 - Assasin Rogue 9 (ranged sharpshooter) or Eldritch Knight 5 - Vengeance Pala 3 - Arcane Trickster 12 (melee smites)

    D&D 5E Druid Armor Restrictions

I see no reason why my Druid wouldn't rock up in half-plate with a shield, either made from something like Umber Hulk chitin or because he has a personality trait where he values his own survival over dumb druidic conventions.

    Counterspell

I don't think it would be a huge issue to add this to your game, I'm just not sure it's really needed. The spel is super good baseline and there are already classes who get bonusses to though counterspell checks. I could see a feat with something along the lines of "add you proffeciency modifier...

    Custom Feat: Master Duelist

Not really the point of this thread. My GM and me are fine with those feats existing however not a fan of the fact there is no 1-handed equivelant, creating a disparity. And we've been playing with the feat for a few months now, 0 Issues compared to if I was a sharpshooter rogue.

Thought experiment: human and variant stats as expressions of culture

I like this idea, maybe make it something of a package of Skill and tool profficiencies and a choice of 2-3 feats. It offers some good use for some of the more feats that arn't used much. You can always change them a bit if needed. Xanathar's expansion on tool proff's and what they offer might...

    D&D 5E Sorcerer Multiclassing?

Yeah, with those goals Sorc is the only real option. I think. 1 lvl of Warlock (hexblade) will immediatly give you half plate armor + shield and a spell slot for the shield spell that resets on SR. the second level gives you full eldritch blast capabilities and a 2nd spell slot.

    Custom Feat: Master Duelist

True, the Sentinel feat gives other useful, unique and powerful abilities. Hamstring on AoO is no joke, and work super good with Polearm Master. But even that is besides the point because I only made the comparison too Sentinel too point out that getting an attack on reaction really isn't as...

    Shield cantrip

Because magic items, esspecialy "common" stuff like bracers or cloak of protection, are readilly available and applicable to most encounters @ lvl 12. And when you say it looses effeciency at higher levels then you are disregarding the fact that spending lvl 1 spell slots on shield when you also...

D&D 5E yes, this again: Fighters need more non-combat options

That's fair, and probably an approach a lot of DM's that appreciate the rule of cool will take, but when a player is rolling up a Luke Cage character and going through his options I think many will rather take the Paladin toolbox over the Fighter, just because it offers more tangible skills (on...

D&D 5E yes, this again: Fighters need more non-combat options

This will probably rub some people the wrong way, but I think the warrior class should be almost entirely revamped. The base-line combat features and execution\ wording on the OoC abilities are just so spartan that even if you RP it up you are still doing it with a much more limited bag of...

    Custom Feat: Master Duelist

I don't think it's that different from the Sentinel feat, which also gives you "infinite reaction attacks" tbh.

    Custom Feat: Master Duelist

Thanks, those are all valid critisism. As mentioned it's definatly not infinite riposte, it still shares a spot with all other reactions (including a rogues uncanny dodge, in my case). Which is one of the things I like about it; it's not always the best choice to always press that button...

D&D 5E Single Session Adventure Recommendations Please!

For a lvl 1 party I would go with this (healer) Life Cleric with Magic Initiate: Druid (Goodberry, shillelagh, thornwhip). Goodberries heal for 10x 4 hp with Diciple of Life (melee) Hexblade with Greatweapon Master. Hex, Armor of Agathys, Booming Blade, Green Flame Blade (ranged) Fighter with...

    Custom Feat: Master Duelist

So here is a bit of background first; I've been playing with the same group (high beer & pretzel level, super fun and easy going) for almost 2 years now, and a while back we started a new campaign where is decided to play an Arcane Trickster I had some pretty cool character ideas for. Ok, it was...

    Shield cantrip

Fair enough. Something else I probably should have mentioned aswell is that I ussualy try to get custom feats or spells on a level that could see print in an official book. I think there is a good reason there are no reaction or bonus action cantrips in RAW atm, and if we ever see them they will...

    Shield cantrip

Because shield proffeciencies on casters ussualy costs either feats or multi-classing (ussualy both or several feats since you almost always need warcaster aswell). The shield spell costs spell slots. A cantrip is free...Pretty big difference and obvious stuff, my dude.

    Shield cantrip

There are plenty of ways for a wizard to get shield proffeciency with RAW, and I'm fine with all of them. I'm also fine with house-ruling, if you feel like it. But I still really don't understand what any of that has to do with a cantrip that either shields the caster to increase ac, or as I...

    Shield cantrip

Ofcoarse I think giving all wizards shield profficiency is way too good. My original post was a suggestion to reduce the power of the suggested shield-cantrip down to what I would consider fair for a defensive reaction cantrip., I would think that would have given my position on that pretty...
