    Running a spionic game

To the OP: It is fun. You might have to watch out for "spamming the battefield with Astral Constructs" but Complete Psionic put in a rule that said that unless there was a special exception you could only have one running around at a time. In general, Astral Constructs are tougher than...

D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] Speak to me of the Spellthief

I have ignored this class in the past, but now I am rereading Complete Adventurer and am somewhat intrigued with the Spellthief. It would never be a powerhouse, but it could be fun in the right sort of game. So for those that have played one (or played in a game with someone else playing one)...

    non-supernatural rogue/swashbuckler?

I don't need the extra skills for my character concept, I also don't want UMD (I'm deliberately trying to avoid magic stuff here - if that doesn't make sense to you, pretend that the setting is an anti-magic setting), and I already have sneak attack and access to feats such as Craven and...

    non-supernatural rogue/swashbuckler?

Because the Swashbuckler 16/Rogue 4 has BAB 19, which is higher (better still, he gets an additional +2 to hit when flanking once he gets high enough level). He also has more hp so is more survivable in meelee.

    non-supernatural rogue/swashbuckler?

I was thinking of a human rogue 4/swashbuckler 16, going for the swashbuckler athletic skills (adding in spot/listen/hide/move silently for the rogue. feats are pretty standard: combat reflexes, two weapon fighting, weapons finesse, daring outlaw (lets you stack sneak attack damage with...

D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] two weapon fighting and Aoo "-2 attack penalty"?

If a character is fighting with 2 weapons and someone else provokes an Attack of Opportunity from that character, does the character still have a penalty on that attack roll from fighting with 2 weapons? To make it simple, lets assume that the character has Two-Weapon Fighting and is using a...

    D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] What if all X's had a level of Warlock?

Fair enough. But if all X's had the eldritch blast would that make the game setting more like the fake Wild West as portrayed in movies and videogames?

    Back to Basics D&D campaign

If you like Beguiler as "mage/thief done right" I would recommend you look again at Duskblade as "fighter/mage done right" also in the PHB II. I also think that the Knight is worth a look as a tank that isn't too far off the beaten track (also in the PHB II) And Warlock has obvious advantages...

    a couple of questions

Wait, so a Treant could be beheaded, but would just keep on fighting (perhaps fighting blind depending on which way that the head was facing?). Or is the head just for decoration and the decapitated treant would see just fine without the head?

D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] How does this Warlock build look?

I guess part of what I am going for is a "no paperwork magic-user". Mainly a blaster/sniper, but I don't want to have to keep track of spell slots, spell points, X's per day, item creation, etc. Just plug and play. I would like to be non-evil if possible.

    D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] What if all X's had a level of Warlock?

Hmmm. Robert Heinlein could write a story about this. Would people all develop a code of extreme politeness? Or would it be more like the Wild West? I assume SR would be rather valuable.

D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] How does this Warlock build look?

CG Human Level 1-6 Warlock, 7-8 Enlightened Spirit (1-2), 9 Binder 1, 10-12 Hellfire Warlock (1-3), 13-20 Enlightened Spirit (3-10). Feats: Spell Penetration, Greater Spell Penetration, Arcane Mastery, and all the rest Extra Invocation (which will get a big pile of Least Invocations). Using...

    D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] What if all X's had a level of Warlock?

    a) Trying to see how a world would be different if all members of a major race, without exception, had a level of Warlock for "free" (doesn't affect their xp progression, etc.). I don't mean how players would abuse it. I mean how would the average D&D style setting be affected if, say, all...

D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] An experiment to nerf the full casters

Based on what others on the net have complained of, mainly. My games tend to be quite low-level so it is not usually an issue. One minor idea is someday running with the "magic starts as not real and becomes more real as one gets more powerful" so that leads into the "illusions only" idea too...

D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] An experiment to nerf the full casters

Replace Cleric with Healer Ban Druids Allow only spells of the school of illusion for Wizards and Sorcerors. Assuming we are using core classes only (well except for the Healer), would this work to stop the full-casters from dominating high-level play?

what is the strongest D&D race?

Gray Elves from the MM get +2 Int and are LA +0. Nice boost for Wizard types and others that base power off of Int.

What's your favorite RPG that you've never actually played?

The 1984 edition of Maelstrom. Wouldn't mind trying freeform magic in that system. Oh, and I have run Jaws of the Six Serpents but never played it. Does that count?

Rouge sneak attack with any weapon

Usually the rogue gets sneak attack damage on every hit, but there are some corner cases where this doesn't happen. With the feat "manyshot" you get multiple attacks but only get sneak attack on the first (assuming you catch the opponent with their dex bonus down). Also invisibility gets...

Why can't I hit anything or do damage?

If you are hitting less than every other round, you might want to go for potions of true strike. That will pretty much guarantee a hit after you drink it.

    Invisible Edlritch Glaive Lock

You are correct, that is all the warlock needs. I was under the misapprehension that their was a more restrictive alignment prerequisite for the prestige class.
