Has anyone run a campaign where the world is still in its diapers, so to speak?

Bear, I would certainly do away with evolution in this kind of game. My question would be, is the world creation something that is truly the creation of the world or is it just the story of how it was done, passed down nd changed over the generations. The creation myth could be something...

Has anyone run a campaign where the world is still in its diapers, so to speak?

The folks who made Slaine are the ones who are making the new Conan d20, yeah? Sounds good, may have to pick those up at some point. I was a fan of the comic as a kid. Thanks for the tip.

Has anyone run a campaign where the world is still in its diapers, so to speak?

I read about Dawnforge, the new setting by Fantasy Flight Games that was set in a young world and I thought it was genius. But then I read the preview, and while it sounds great and I'll no doubt buy it because Midnight was fantastic and FFG puts out a slick, beautiful and well-written...

Has anyone run a campaign where the world is still in its diapers, so to speak?

Nice, Mr. Midget, nice. I posted this puppy on rpg.net probably right as you were writing this. Enjoy: And on the 8th Day We Adventured (a Young World Campaign Setting) The world is young. The stars twinkle in the sky, new to the void. The sun grows used to its path as the moon shows us...

Has anyone run a campaign where the world is still in its diapers, so to speak?

I'd have no Gods, only elements to be worshipped, or the Sun, the Moon and the four Elements. I'd make a fictional star-map of the world and allow the players to trace pictures and name the first constellations. The players would be able to become Gods if they worked hard enough. Maybe the...

Expeditious Retreat Press = Da Bomb

I agree that Expeditious Retreat has some great customer service. My book came with a hand written thank you note. Oh - and the book rocks. Duh.

[Midnight] Dark Tower's Shadow (Updated 12/10)

Real Life, the adversary of this STory Hour has conspired to keep the player from handing me the notes from our last two games. I promise I will write about what I have, one way or the other before too long. Thanks for the kind bumps. I appreciate it.

What's the Philosophy behind Planar games?

For me Planar games are about being able to use all of the elements and myths that I love. Githyanki Warlocks, Norse Berserkers, Rokugani Samurai, Dwarven Hearthguard...whatever I feel like pulling out of the ole DM's Notebook but all with a unified theme and in the spirit of a good story. Yay.

    LARP History

I believe I invented LARPing in 1980 when I hit my best friend with a wiffle ball bat while making lightsaber-like noises. Honestly and seriously, I believe many of the larger fantasy LARPs can be traced to Massachussets. Check out some LARPing web sites and send out some polite e-mails and...

    Non-Standard Map Fragments to a Dragon's Lair

I don't want just fragments of a paper map. Map Fragments: Suit of Armor - This suit of bamboo reinforced full plate is made in the visage of a terrible red enameled dragon. The armor is from the Dragon's Lair Guard. It doesn't fit the PC who owns it. Scrolls - These scrolls detail the...

    10 Minute D&D Cosmology

Just in case you need something cosmic to hang your hat on. I'm going to base the Gods of this world on the alignments, making it easy to just peg a God into each alignment. There are other religions, totems, ancestor worship, self-proclaimed Demi-Gods, etc. but most of the western world...

One Shot Concept (Help, please) - Bastards Kill a Dragon and Take its Hoard

I'm hesitant to have extensive Diamond Throne plot stuff as the center-piece of the game. It would lead to too much explaining. But thanks :).

I agree. I'm nixing that particular twist. Agreed.

One Shot Concept (Help, please) - Bastards Kill a Dragon and Take its Hoard

Gotta make the PC's hate this Dragon. Two of the PC's will be arriving to the mountain range by boat. They will arrive in teh port to find a beached whale, not just any ole humpback but an Awakened Humpback who was a friend to the town, aiding fishermen, warning about storms, fending off...

One Shot Concept (Help, please) - Bastards Kill a Dragon and Take its Hoard

The initial e-mail: Thieving Bastards You are the leader of a group of heartless bastards. You're the head of your guild, chief of your ninja clan, captain of your pirate ship or just leader of the gang back in your home town. But out here on the edge of a mountain range where the Gods...

So what's the deal with "Midnight"?

Aw shucks. Thanks Drakmar. Hail Izrador and go out and get Midnight, it is my favorite fantasy world out there and this is from a guy who hates published settings. Building a world on my own is half of the fun for me but Midnight's really a solid piece of gaming real estate.

[Midnight] Dark Tower's Shadow (Updated 12/10)

slowly but surely Bastion – Breadbasket of Eredane Scouting gave them an idea of the area. Bastion was a walled city, in the middle of a triangle of Orc-infested fortresses. To the north was the Shadow-built Holy Fortress, a nightmare of spires and walls. To the east was Fort Easterling and...

    Drow Campaign Kicker

These were a series of e-mails I sent to a player I might run on a solo game with this as the premise based on what kind of character the player said she wanted to play. FYI

    Reverse Midnight

My game started off in that kind of direction, with the players starting having been schooled in Theros Obsidia. They were all insurgents but the big choice in the game was how long they would stick it out with the well-equipped, well fed evil before going rebel. The Story Hour is called Dark...

5 Step Campaign in 5 Weeks

A friend and I are starting a monthly D&D group and this idea might be the game I end up running after the first of the year. Any comments or criticism would be appreciated. Thanks for reading.
