    Eternal Dungeon - A Story-Centered Hack-N-Slash Campaign Concept

Forgive my ignorance, I can guess from the name but, what is Dungeon World. Odds are a friend mentioned it to me at some point and it just slipped my mind. Yes, I probably am on some level. Truth is I was just trying to figure out how I could run a hack-n-slash non-stop dungeon crawl and make...

    Eternal Dungeon - A Story-Centered Hack-N-Slash Campaign Concept

Eternal Dungeon There has always been the dungeon. You don't know anything else. The first level is the first thing you remember. Perhaps there was a story to your life, a family, a clan, a nation but that is lost in these tunnels. There are three facts you know for sure: Killing the...

What DnD book of yours is the most damaged?

My DMG, because on a rainy night when my car jack wouldn't stick in the mud, I stuck my DMG under it so I could have solid ground to jack up my Honda Civic. Hells YEAH!

[Midnight] Dark Tower's Shadow (Updated 12/10)

Heh. We gamed on Wednesday, just some short solo role-playing between me and JJ, the creator and player of Karhoun. I am awaiting JJ's notes so I can go over what we did and write it all down.

Do you admit to being a gamer?

I don't have a hobbies section on my resume. However, when I worked as an after-school program's site coordinator the students' gaming came up and I defended it to administrators and the advisory board by explaining that I gamed when I was their age and I gamed now. I am not ashamed to be a...

    Campaign setting recommendations

I have been playing Midnight for over a month now and it plays as well as it reads. The book is well put together with really fun alternate rules and alternate classes while still keeping a D&D feel. It takes steps away from Drizzt and steps towards Aragorn, which is to say it is less D&D...

[Midnight] Dark Tower's Shadow (Updated 12/10)

Story Post # 22 Epilogue #4 - The Queen & King The Witch Queen and the King of the Aruun met on neutral ground, a high plateau in the Arunath Mountains. The Queen appeared out of the morning mists, black eyes taking in the breathtaking view of the Erethor and the Aruun. The King trod up a...

[Midnight] Dark Tower's Shadow (Updated 12/10)

Story Post #21 Epilogue #4 - The Chimera One could tell the age of the halls in the Dwafholdt by the amount of gore strewn on the floor. This room was venerable, sealed for decades. Gore had long since turned to brown stains on the floors and wall. Now all that remained were the brittle...

    Sell me on a setting

Midnight is a fun setting that takes two steps away from Drizzt and two big steps towards Aragorn (my way of saying that it embraces Tolkienish roots). The changes to the casting, magic item and overall magic system are fantastic, adding to the setting's ambience. The new classes are well done...

Play the Polyhedron Mini-game Mix and Match Fest!

    1. Take all of the Polyhedron Mini-games, put them in a hat. 2. Pull Two out. 3. Play the game that ensues. Some possibilities as envisioned by Jim Delrosso: Shadow Chasers and Omerga World! "We must destroy these monstrous Shadow abberations!" "Dude, you're pretty judgemental for a guy...

How vivid is the violence in your game?

Re: Re: How vivid is the violence in your game? I've been thinking about this. In some games this is true. In my current Midnight D&D game it is. In others I just want the players to eff stuff up and make explosions go BOOM.

How vivid is the violence in your game?

Realistic int he sense that it is terrible and risky. Consequences are definitely a huge part of my campaign. I don't run dungeon crawls very often...none yet in this campaign. I have nothing against a good crawl now and then but it isn't the status quo of the game. When players push the...

[Midnight] Dark Tower's Shadow (Updated 12/10)

Story Post #20 Epilogue #3 - The Sphinx There is a land so baked by the sun, so pale and sun-drenched that it seemed to some folk that the Shadow could have no foothold there. Those folk were wrong. The Clanless were leading a doomed existence. The surface was cruel to the Dwarves and their...

[Midnight] Dark Tower's Shadow (Updated 12/10)

Story Post #19 Epilogue #20 - The Pit Breeder There is a land so far north that the only distinguishing feature is the Shadow. Even the Snow Elves don’t venture there. It is said that one did, but her name has passed into tales and legends. The land that far north is a barren wasteland...

[Midnight] Dark Tower's Shadow (Updated 12/10)

Story Post #18 Epilogue #1 – Durgen the Silent Durgen sat in his cabin, his crew knew their duties. He hoped that there would be no battles with the many terrors of the Pellurian Sea. The men were all tired, never having combatted a Shadow Minion of this magnitude. He thought about leaving...

Best RPG purchase past 6 months

Midnight is the best gaming buy in the past six months. I hate published settings but love this book. It is the first d20 setting that has made me want to play in it. I have since started a game in it, that has been a fun campaign so far.

[Midnight] Dark Tower's Shadow (Updated 12/10)

Yeah, I think I had taken the cliffhanger as far as it was going to go. It was tired. This catches the StoryHour up with the game. We havne't played for 3 weeks due to my summer trips and such. Next week we game again. I am going to write three epilogues, one from Durgen's point of view...
